Timing Belt Tensioner Spring Failure

I replaced the timing belt, water pump and tensioner pulley on my 2003 Civic 6 months ago. Two weeks ago the tensioner spring broke. I replaced the spring and it broke in less than a week. Has anyone else had this problem?

Re: Timing Belt Tensioner Spring Failure

Someone else posted that this happened to them a couple weeks ago, except the spring broke and started wearing through the timing belt. I'm not sure what the cause might be..

Re: Timing Belt Tensioner Spring Failure

You HAVE to make sure the spring is installed the right way... If you install it backwards you risk failure.

Re: Timing Belt Tensioner Spring Failure

Odd... hmm... is the actual tensioner torqued properly?
