Shipping from the states Q's

I want to buy an exhaust for my car over the net but I was wondering about S&H, taxes, and other assorted duties.
Is there duties and taxes and if yes, how much?
The exhaust I want is $439 US which is about $650 Cdn.
Thats alot cheaper than the $850 a local shop wants.
But once again there's the taxes and duties and stuff.
Anybody who could help me with some info, it'll be much appreciated.

Ok so, 650 canadian.

But you pay tax. For BC isn't it 8% GST? So thats, an extra $50

What about shipping? Exhausts are pretty heavy, so I'm guessing atleast another $75 shipping.

There shouldn't be any 'duty' charges (thanks to NAFTA).

But still, 650+75+50 = $775 at LEAST

If something goes wrong with the exhaust, and you need to file for warentee, where do you go? You'd probably have to ship it back (that's not cheap either).

IMO, buy it from the local shop. They will most likely install it for you, and you have a place to go to if anything goes wrong. Sure, you might save $50 buying it from the states, but it's much safer to get it from the local place.

There will be customs or duty charges. At the very least you'll pay around a $40 brokerage fee plus gst on top of that. All told, without shippping i'm guess you'd pay close to $100 on a $650 item.
