How Should I sell my 2k2?

me and my dad went to test drive a 2003 maxima se (6spd, of course) (my idea ), and, the civic doesn't even compare to this...but, my dad likes the max, I love maximas since they came out, and I guess we are just waiting for the year end sale or a good time too buy. But, my civic is leased so.....
should I private sell it?
go throught nissan (they said to get the buy back value of my civic from honda, and they will appraise it and we pay the diff.)
or stop lease, but i dunno how much the penalty is....

for you ppl that dont know what car im talking about: 2003 Maxima

Of couse the maxima is way better than civic. It costs a whole lot more!

anyway, nissan dealer can probably handle it if they want to sell u the max. anyway, good luck!!

p.s. it probably cost less to do it privately

hehe. don't get a Maxima. get a G35. but wait for the 6spd. how much more can a G35 cost anyway? 5 grand?

EDIT: Just checked. And the price difference between a G35 and a Maxima SE (without leather) is around 5 grand. haha. I'm gonna go test drive one right away (a G35).

Get the new Altima, every review says it's better than the new Maxima.

we might be trading it in, and may only lose 2000$ - 3000$.

there's a very good chance of getting the maxima by the end of the month

hey ZeroFighter, let me kno how it goes... i.e. how much money you end up paying for ending the lease early. my dad was thinking about getting a bigger car than my EL, but he was afraid that it wasn't worth ending the lease due to possible penalties, etc.

p.s. there's been alot of good reviews on the G35, although i'm not sure if it's nearly identical to the maxima or not... if it's not TOTALLY out of the question, i suggest you take one out for a spin at least

we talked to the nissan guy, and they said that they can take over the lease or something, or get the buy back value, then they'll appraise it and you'll end up paying the difference, for example my buy back value on the 2k2 civic is 24000$ and they said we'll probably will get like 19000$ - 21000$ or somewhere around those numbers....
btw ill be getting the maxima by friday, if not next friday!!!!
then max we are going to get is in the showroom, it is chromesilver with tan leather, its a SE, 6speed.
But i dont like the front of the G35 much, and if where to get one, it would be the G35 coupe after my maxima

DEFINATELY TRADE THE CAR IN!! Reason being is: #1 If you privately sell your car. Let's say you get $15,000 for it. And the Altima Lets say for example purposes cost $30,000. Now, let's add the tax for the car which is $30,000 x 1.145 is $34,350. Now minus your $15,000 and you'll end up paying $19350.

Okay, now lets'say you trade in the car. Now let's say they give you $14,000 ( they make $1000 profit). Now the Altima will only cost you $30,000 - $14,000 + tax which is $16,000 x 1.145 = $18,320

Get it? Now that's given that they give you a $1000 lower quote, but i find that because they're willing to sell you a car, and make profit on the NEW car, they'll usually give you a higher trade-in value. So even if they give you $14,500 then you still save money!

I had a 2001 Civic DX-G with 34,000 KM and i got a trade-in value of $15,500 which is pretty good considering i bought it for $17,400. After 1 and 1/2 years only 2000 depreciation.

So my advice is to trade the car in. You'll save yourself a couple G's.

Main Different is when you sell privately you pay tax on the full price of the new car. If you trade it in you only pay tax on the difference, and that makes a HUGE difference given the tax is so high. 14.5 % GST+PST.

yea, i know the max is a sleeper. it can get 14.6 stock in the usa...but, it will probably get 14.8-15.0 so, we'll see. I might not have to pay extra cause of the civic, since its si-g, with all options, oem kit, low kms, and all under coats/interior protection, but its also the way you talk to the salesman...so....when I get the max..get used to this view!

btw, its in the showroom, its chrome silver with tan leather.
