Two New Alternators, now car won't start..?
Hello everyone! My 2016 Civic Ex started displaying the lights for Hill Assist Problem, Brake System Problem, Charging System Problem, and a couple others. I took it to Auto Zone and they said it was a bad alternator, so I changed it. The problem persisted so I took it to Honda. They said the tensioner was bent and needed replacing, along with the belt so I agreed to have them do that. When I picked it up I asked to see the tensioner, nothing was bent. I complained and they took the part and all labor off the bill. The vehicle started doing the same thing two days later. My daughter was driving and said the power steering went out, then the AC and screens shut off, then the car died. I had it towed to Honda who said the Alternator was bad. I took it to Auto Zone and they confirmed it was a bad Alt.
I took it out again to have them bench test it. Auto Zone said their software wasn't updated enough to test the 2016, so I put another re-manufactured one in. I was doing it with my son, and forgot to disconnect the battery at first so the socket wrench grounded out from the part on the top of the alt. with an eyelet bolted on against something that looks like an inverted bowl with something in the middle. After putting it all back together, the interior lights nor anything else will turn on. When I push the start engine button it slowly blinks white for around 30 seconds before staying off. No other sign of electric is working. I tried jump starting it, (brand new battery as well) but it didn't change anything. Please help, I don't want to be robbed by the dealer again, and thinking maybe the computer is mad about all the switching? I tried disconnecting the battery to reset it again, but it didn't help either. I also did the bypass gearshift to see if that would help at all, but it didn't do anything either... I really appreciate any help!
