Help!!!! new trans axle seal failed

help!!!! so i have had a passenger side fluid leak from the transmission where it meets the axle. i decided to have the mechanic change it because it was only 125. thinking it would be an easy fix and it was something i have never done myself. so i picked it up and drove 45 min home. when i got home the leak was way worse than when i took it in. i took it back to the shop and he is going to take a look. but i get the feeling this is going to be an on going nightmare. its an 89 civic wagovan. the previous owner had it raised. any advice would be appreciated. thanks

did he replace the axle seal as well? i would have, and you need to find out. if so, and it leaks, a lot of axles are remanufactured and are therefore cut slightly undersize. they make repair sleeves to cure this, but it takes a brain to figure out exactly what sleeve needs to be ordered. this guy replaced the axle 5x before figuring this out, and the sleeve fixed it permanently. you can see an example here. http://www.ptcruiserlinks.com/forum/...tml#post499474

Re: Help!!!! new trans axle seal failed

he probably just pushed the seal too far in, or left it hanging out too much.both could result in leaking and damaging the seal.

Replacing the seal and having it sit flush as it should, should stop the leak.
