Emmissions Laws for Engine swaps
Anybody know if it's legal to put a JDM B16 in the 7thGen with regards to the emmissions standards. The engine I found is a 2000.

You guys absolutely positive that it's illegal?
I knew before if you had a 2000 car and you dropped in a 1996 motor, the 1996 motor would have to pass the same emmission standards as your 2000 original motor.
And say you drove a 1995 car and wanted to drop in a 1999 motor, your 1995 car would have to pass the same emmissions as your 1999 motor I believe.
Well either way, you could always swap the motor and not say anything. I did my emmissions before on my 1993 delsol, never said a word, the 1999 GSR passed fine. And been stopped by cops before asking if it was the original motor, I just said, it was there when I bought the car.
Most of the time, cops only want to make sure the motor's not stolen, cause a lot of engine swaps out there are done with stolen motors.
So with regards to you dropping in a JDM B16 in your 7th gen, I would think it would be hard to pass emmissions, because the 7th gen has a very strict emmissions standard. And JDM engines tend to pollute more than USDM ones. Although there are shops out there that are able to pass your car for a price.
