What is your view on the sport compact scene?
well i thought i would share how i am feeling..
1st off, i did love it to one point..... i had a bllast looking at other peoples rides when i didnt have a car going on those auto class trips to the interantional centre for performance world, and now that i have a job and a car and doing up my car, im getting sick of it....
i truly believe u gotta go extreme to win nowadays... with conversions etc.... damn....
so ive decided im going to stop modding my car...... b/c everyone has the same looking car as mine.. either with rims or tails etc..... lowered.... but this is not a rant... its about llove and passion for the scene, i will always love it...
i dont have money to do any funky *** conversions.... b/c id rather save my money and FIX my eyes rather then buy parts.....
so ive decided to go a better route... and thats buying a motorcycle!!!!
whats your opinion and how do you feel?

i thought about it today, as i am young , 18 yrs old, i still wanna enjoy my life b/c i dont believe the car is my life, nor do i revolve my life around my car, frankly the car isn't my #1 priority, its an all right looking car but why bother when someone elses will look nicer, and now a days too many thieves, thats the biggest problem, when *********as r jealous they will rob u or destroy what u have in order to slow down your process and help themselves out, so i dont know, i might wanna get out soon too, sell parts and enjoy life, b/c i beleive the car is too much stress for me and my family, thats all frankly IMO
1st of all... Chigga and R2Fresh, you made me think about it and after giving it some thought, I'M DONE TOO!!!! I've WASTED too much time and money on my car that I forgot about the other, more important things in life. Time with my girl is more important and $$$ I will save for my future with her is more important than anything.
Any mod I do to the car will be because it was too, too cheap to pass off and it won't be anything for the physical appearance of the car. Won't be anything to "shock" and "awe" others... something that my g/f and I will benefit from, like an LCD screen for example.
Something somewhat necessary per say.
I'LL SEE YOU ALL AROUND!!! HONK IF YOU SEE ME!!! I'M OUT!!! PEACE!

hehe...i understand...sometimes i feel sick and tired of it also...because i'm kinda IN THE SCENE every minute of my life. my work, my friends, everything! even my family (well, only my sister and my dad) is modding their cars!! LOL
*sigh* i dun think i'd ever get out of it....not that i want to or antyhing, but i guess everyone has diferent goals and perspective on life and things.
for me, i just want myself to be happy. that's it. and whatever i do, i wont regret it, and i wont let myself be upset!
CHEERS!!

well its a passion.... sometimes it fades.. what can you do...
i guess to a point some are right... you have to be Xtreme to win... but i think its also up to you.... built on your car for yourself.... cause your driving it... and your the one inside it....
just be smart on what you spend on...

well basically im pretty much happy with my car as it is...and im also pretty much done with it for now.....it came to a point where i need to use my money elsewhere and save for the future....but once im making amazing money and have extra left over...then ill start again....but as for now...i retire for the next little while.....it gets stressful always being down on cash cuz most of it goes the the bloody thing.........OH WELL IM OUT for now....peace!!!
When a particular type of vehicle is starting out in popularity, it is not too hard to win a tropy or be different. But as that area matures, the competition gets really intense.
When I was growing up, Mustangs and Camaros looked practically new to win a trophy, and they were twenty years old. Then there were the bugs. They could pull a wheelie and still win a best of show. Then the mini trucks, you could eat off the floor, be blinded by the engine and suspension, and feel bass for blocks. Now it is the sport compact's time in the sun.
My take, build the car how you want it. Customize it to make it your own. Take it is far or as short as you like. Realize that it is supposed to be fun. Just don't **** your girlfriend off too much, you just might miss her.

i want an SUV, sick and tired of sprot compacts already...
I see the appeal of SUV much more clearly now, blinding others at night, intimidating people in small cars, take up two spots when parking, staying planted on the road during winter, etc..... if the gas price keeps dropping, I'd love an SUV.... saving gas isnt as cool as I thought it would be (LOL)...

The scene is much more different now that back many many years ago.
I'm quite surprised that you guys are all done with the scene so early. But then the rules are much more stricter these days, especially with cops, theives, insurance, gas prices and everything. Back then you could mod your car with anything, street race at every light and not worry about getting pulled over. These days you get pulled over for just driving a Honda.
I'm out of the scene, of course I can't stop modding though, but I'm just doing it so I can still race my car on the track and enjoy it. So mostly suspension work. I don't really see a point of modding these engines just to squeeze an extra 20-30 horsepower. And plus the costs of doing that is totally not worth it.
But mod your car if you can afford it, if you gotta sacrifice your social life, money, or anything else for that matter, then I say it's not worth it.

I was never in the scene... just interested in them skimpily dressed girls standing next to the cars...
but seriously, I'm a starving fulltime student and have no money to do anything to my car
weeeell, maybe just tint, grill, snowtires, fipk, cheapo mp3 deck (which all added together is a small fortune... around 1.5grand ouch!)but that's not the point... and was going to get rims, but i'm putting the money toward a better car (sold my EL rims wee!)... most of my money goes into social activities (like bootie-calls
come on people need set get up and go food to ya know haha!)...

When I feel that I'm set for the future, become an executive or just plain making mad dough... I'm sure I'll be in my own garage working on my car modding a Lexus GS400.
I love modding my car cause to me it's like a toy, that's why I got a cheaper Civic than the Prelude which was my original plan... I'll always be doing it but only for my own personal interest and not to gain a spot at some car show...

Here's my thoughts--
I guess I'm a bit older than most of you on here (25).. been intot he car scene since back in the good o'l days. Yes, back when 5th Gen Civics were brand new. Back then, the air was clean, and sex was dirty... umm. Anyways.
Back then, things were more descrete because everybody still drove around in Stangs and Camaros, so having a souped up Civic was actually something SPECIAL. But today, you are just another punk.
Back then, 17" rims were HUGE. Only the most serious modders had them, and it drew stares wherever you went. It was rare. Now? You are just another punk.
Back then, you had cars with personality--RX-7 Turbos, Talon TSi, VW Corrados, Supra Turbos, 240SX, MX-6.... of course, those cars died out eventually. Today they are either pieces of rust buckets. Now days, everybody drives a Civic, Golf, Integra or Prelude. Every kid that gets a license today wants a HONDA. They have no idea what it is, or why it got famous. They just want a HONDA.
Car shows? More like freak shows. I don't goto car shows because they are a SCAM. Last importfest or whatever it was at the Skydome was $25 per person. So you go with 3 of your friends, say... that is $100. Plus parking. That is excluding what you might BUY from there, like snacks or drinks. Give me a break. It's a scam. For what? I can see those same fawking cars in parking lots for FREE.
And as for the broads on the stage--hey, if I wanna see broads on stage, I goto a STRIP CLUB. Nuff said. Stop turning car shows and car magazines into a softcore ****.
But in the end, all this stuff... the car scene... it's been huge since the 60's. It just died out for a while because of the late 70's and early 80's gas crisis. Now cars are fast again. People's interest spark. It's just funny how things evolve...
