Thumbs down Got Deck Stolen! Broken window

well i guess it happens to everyone at least once or twice for the time they own their car, well ya it happened to me lat night, i wake up this morning to see my driver side window smashed and the whole deck console gone, i dont understand why ne one would do it, but w/e i guess if it happens it happens and we can only move on, so now i only have to worry about my mom stressing and freaking out, i hope who ever has it enjoys it, but when i find them bats will be flying,
i am not to pleased but at least kind of glad they knew what they were doing b/c they didnt scratch up the whole guage cluster rather one flat head screw driver mark and it was done, the wires were not cut rather just pulled out

w/e i guss i have to move on, and whether or not i will still continue modifying the car i have to see, b/c i realize with dumb muth*er*fu*ckers in this world it seems pointless

That sucks man, sorry to hear that it happened. But hell it doesnt make it your fault for leaving the face plate on, hell its your car and if you want to leave it on, then you have the right to do so. The only person to blame in this is the person who broke in and stole the stuff.

Hope it all works out man.

Some insurance companies will give you crap, but just show them that your car was vandalized and broken into, and show them the receipt for the deck, and they should compensate you.

Although I can't guarantee that your insurance wont increase a bit from this incident.

How much is your deductible? If it's $500 or $1000, then you might as well just pay for all the damages yourself and not bother claiming.

$700 installed? That sounds a bit high.

Try pricing it around some other body shops.

Ya, me and my friends were gonna set up dummy cars at the GO TRAIN lots, cause they always target those lots.

Did you have an alarm, that is why it is a great tool to have one with good sensors like resonance, impact, shock, etc... the most important is to triple backup the alarm and place at least 2 air horns/sirens inside the car, that way they will just leave with a broken glass because I doubt someone can handle 140db.

Anyways insurance usually cover 1500< for audio equipment, if its just a deck than I suppose its under that.

www.ibc.ca good link for auto insurance information

List from Honda is only $195.72 Bring it to my shop and I'll install it, all included for $325.00. I'm sure its much cheaper than paying your deductable.

I totally feel your frustration bro. I've had a total of 4 break-ins to my cars to date.

When I hear stories like this, it makes me grit my teeth. Baztards for doin that.

And for SiGuy, thats totally bang on man. Onside.

Whats even more frustration however, is that even if the baztard is caught, he'd get off with a slap on the wrist. Probation at worse. This system is ***!

Good luck amigo, hope all works out.

Your insurance company cannot raise your premiums for a comprehensive claim (which this is) - they can only raise your deductible -- So, no, your premiums won't go up because of this claim

Actually, that is incorrect. Depending on your insurance company, they can increase it or they may choose to laps your policy. If you have more than three claims within a specified period of time (again, depending on your insurance company) they have ultimate authority and can pretty much do whatever they want. They can even tell you to find insurance somewhere else.

Actually its not incorrect ... Since a comp claim is not an at fault loss they cannot legally increase your premiums.... I'm an adjuster, so I have some experience on the topic ... They can raise your deductible if they wish, and they cannot lapse your policy unless you have violated a statutory condition --- They can put you in Facility (which is insurance for high risk drivers) but unless you commit some sort of viloation, they have no authority to cancel your policy .... They can only increase the premium or the rate (and that can only be done with AT FAULT losses) --- Its in the Insurance Act of Ontario if you want to look it up - Section 7 I believe
