and with smaller threads, the probably the person can find their info in 2 or 3 page loads in the small thread is greater than the probabily that the person can find their info in 2 or 3 page loads in a 20 page thread
which means, there is less wasted user time and less wasted server time and less wasted bandwidth
so this favours smaller threads...
