I had an M for 2 years up untill last year then my license was suspended for dangerous driving,
you need a G to go for your M1 last time i checked and the cost is about $50.00 I can't remember for sure

I have my M licence.
I cant remember exactly how much the testing costs or what the waiting period is, but this is the way I did it.
I would suggest taking the Motorcycle course at Humber or wherever its offered in the GTA. I took my course at Georgian College in Barrie.
The course was awesome and teaches you everything starting from the basics.
You do not need a bike cause they supply you with one.
If you pass the course than you will be rewarded your M2 certificate but you cant cash it in until your M1 time period has been fulfilled.
So this is what you should do.
1. Sign up for a course, its worth the money cause you will save on insurance.
2. Buy a motorcycle handbook, study it and write the M1 test. Try to time it so that you will have it long enough so that when you pass the course you dont have to wait forever to cash it in. Ideally as soon as you pass the course you want to be able to ride a bike and not be limited with your M1.
3. After getting your M2 I think you have up to 5 years to go write your M test. You should try to book this at least a year later so that you dont pick up a lot of bad habits. I actually waited almost 5 years and then took a refresher course.
Good Luck with the whole process, having a bike is awesome!

No you shouldnt have to have a G to get your M1.
What if you park your bike sideways at the very front of your garage. usually the car can still fit in. Just make sure you dont smash into it when you park your car. haha.

You can lock your steering wheel so that they can only push it in a circle, or what you should buy is a disc lock.
This attaches in your front wheel and your disc brake and if anyone tries to roll your bike the disc lock prevents the wheel from turning cause the front forks are in the way.
Thats what I have and it works awesome.
If someone wants to steal a bike that bad they can figure out a way... but if you can make it harder for them they will most likely leave it alone and go onto the next one.
Besides Harleys are what get stolen the most and I doubt you will get one of those for your first bike. hehe

you can lock the steering wheel
there are wheel locks
but if a professional really wants to steal your bike.. he/she can do it easily.. no matter what kind of security system you have.. just like a car.
i dont know how it goes nowadays
i got my m2 b4 my g2.
current license. GM2
i paid like 15bucks i think.. for the m1 test. its exactly like the g1 test.. but with another 20 to 30 questions on motorcycle safety and so forth... once you get your m1, you have a 90 day period to get your m2 license.. or else your m1 will expire.
i took a motorcycle safety course.. with Canadian Motorcycle association.. the one i went to is now closed down. there's Humber or Centennial still around i think. friday is in class. and the weekend is the lessons on a bike. they will provide a **** *** bike for you. 250cc class. on the last day.. sunday afternoon.. they will test you.. if you pass, you will get your m2 license... if you dont. you can always go back and try the test again.. a certain amount. like 30 bucks or something..>?
the course itself is like 3 to 4bills, i dotn exactly remember. but its well worth it.
...this reminds me, i have to get my freaking M license by august or else i have to start all over... f**k. and i havent ridden in over three years. bought and sold my bike when i was 17 - 18 years old.
im prolly gonna take a refresh your memory course. haha.. at humber or centennial this year.. so i can then practice and get my full M license by august.
now.. i got my m2 when i was 16. so i dont konw how the system works nowadays.

I just checked up on the MTO and what AznSaint said is just like what the MTO said, and as for having your G license, you don't need it to get your M1. It's only $15 for M1, but remember it only lasts for 90 days so be quick on taking your course i suggest you book it b4 you write your M1 test.
I am interested in this aswell my cousin too...
Where can I find more information of motocycle courses offered int he GTA?
I think I'll buy the chinese M1 booklet that has answers
You get your M2 after 90 days?
Thanks
Smoked you got pm.

Seems like Gearing Up is 335$, average.

You should try to see if there is room in the courses first.
I remember when I got my M1 and when I tried to book a class, it was full until August or so.
(Obviously didn't plan anything and just gave up on getting my M2... as everyone said M1 lasts only 90 days)
Maybe its easier to get into class now... but just incase... or else thats 2 M1 tests you need to take... (easy, just G1 questions, common sense questions and like 3 questions in which you actually had to have read the book)
not trying to make it sound as if you DON'T need to read it, just that its easy to pass...

and imagine 17 years old like AzimuthX trying to buy insurance on bike?
car is already expensive enough for 17 years old male so i dont see 17 years old buying bike insurance is any cheaper
i wont get a bike until i pass 25 cuz insurance in ontario is a cash grab program...i am paying enough now for my car so dont want any additional unnecessary expenses
