Rep Power: 0 $200 to get a custom Ontario license plate. http://www.mto.gov.on.ca or something. Whatever the website, just go to the Ministry of Transportation, there's all the info on there...
Currently license plates can have up to 8 characters, I think max 7 if you want a logo on it (Maple Leafs, UofT, etc.) Note also that racial/bad license plates are a no go, as all custom license plates go through a review board. So, a license plate that says "DIE SADAM" won't execatlyg go too well...
You pay the usual yearly fee to renew your license plates... what is it.... like $75/yr for Ontario? Whatever... custom or not, same price to my knowledge.

if you decide to go with the logo, then it's 6 chars alphnumeric.
all choices cannot contain derogatory, racial or explicit meanings
write down ur choices on a piece of paper and then go to the mto. then will check to see if it's available and you can order it on the spot.
no annual fees except for the regular license plate renewal

Rep Power: 0 some malls have little booth things, and u can search up plates and they will tell u if they have been used or not, and all u do is stick your license in a slot, it reads it, than put in a credit card or debit card to pay ofr it than they send them to you......thats how i got mine.....3 yrs ago..........$216

Go to your nearest MTO office and go to the counter and tell them you want a custom plate.
They checked for me if it was taken or not. If it's not an obvius set of letters like a name or something, they ask you to write down the meaning of the name.
Payment is up front. You'll receive the plates in 6 -8 weeks in the mail. When you receive them, you have to take the plates with you back to any MTO office, remove your old plates and take them in along with the new ones. Don't forget your green ownership slip.
They'll complete the registration, take your old plates away and the ownership. Then they'll issue you a new ownership for the new plates and give you stickers for them. Put 'em on your car and you're done.

Two of the same set of plates on different cars? no...
Or do they ship you two plates (one for the front and one for the back)? yes
And what they will do is if you plates needs to be replaced (like you crack one or too much rust or something) then you can replace them with a fee of $30

I have the best licence plate coming up (and I doubt it's taken), so w00t!
hahh, by the way, my favorite one I've ever seen was on a souped up BMW M3, the plate read "I SPEND"...

i stole it off some car and put it on mine
