OT: Car Modification

I've been doing alot of thinking lately on what I would do to my car, and i've decided that i'm not going to do anything to it... haha... i'm 20 y/o and I dont have a steady income or anything so i think i'm just gonna wait until i have a full time job with enuff disposable income to work on my car to the max, instead of doing a half *** job now... and also why would I want to do anything to my car, besides my love of cars, what other reason is there???

Whats ur opinions on this???

Yeah ! I agree with you !!
I had the same thought as you too !!
but I just couldn't stop myself from modding it ... I did several things to it to make a look a bit better ... and I think that's it for now

I bought my civic for one reason... because there's so many toys/accessories to buy to do it up to your liking. I've had a car since I was 16-17, from a 2-dr, 4 dr, jeep, full size SUV, but none of them were done up aside from xenon headlights.
Civic is very affordable and it gives me enough extra $$$$ to play with it. It's like a toy, only that you can actually roll around with it.

But I agree with FO, once you start.... you cannot stop! It's one of the worst addictions out there.

they need a group for us, like tuners anonymous or something. man i make like 40 grand a year but was tupid enough, or smart enough, depending on how you look at to buy a house. now i have about $400 a month to spend on my car, rather than like $3500. **** i'd have rims, coilovers, better music and some go fast goodies by now if i could spend all that.

it's true. Tricking your ride out is addictive. You end up spending so much money on the car just to realize you could have saved all that money to buy a better car.

see... thats exactly wut i was thinking... the car isn't fully in my name... and it wont be till i'm 25(when insurance goes down)... so i say that in 5 years I can save up some serious money and either do major mods or sell this one to get a new car...

i definitely have no regrets in regards to what i spent on my car...and what i did to it...it was all my doing...and it was all worth it....it was nice having the car especially last summer...it was definitely an addiction because each meet i would have a new toy to show the boys.....the good ol days..but those days are gone...all i have now are pics of the car...and memories...for a sedan...i think i didn't do too bad...but don't worry...boys..new toy this summer....but still a work in progress....

so always do everything you do WITH NO REGRETS!!!

Here's what I think ... you can always sell the mods when you decide to sell your car later ...
you will lose some bills but you've used them to enhance your car for months/years ...
I think it's well worth it ...

I also have my way to mod my car ... I will usually get 2nd hand stuff for cosmetic mod and new things for engine/ suspension mod ...

why would you not go through insurance if your car was hit in a hit and run??

If it's a hit and run it would be considered as an at fault accident since the other party is not identified and found responsible... (I work @ an insurance company)

haha well then that means all the people at my insurance company are lying to everyone... haha...

so if my car is parked and it gets hit and i come out and see the dent?
or if i'm driving and someone hits me and drives off?

well, as long as you make a police report it would be classified as a hit and run, you would have your car taken to the police reporting centre and pictures would be taken - Then, you would call your insurance broker or agent and let them know your vehicle was involved in a hit and run - it would fall under your collision coverage and you would pay your deductible ,HOWEVER YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY CANNOT CHARGE YOU WITH AN AT FAULT LOSS UNLESS YOU ARE IN THE VEHICLE - .. What company do you work for? And in what department.... By the way, I have my CIP, and FCIP, if your in insurance, you'll know what this means....

Edit- I'm from KW.....Your from Markham, Where both in Ontario, someone has been lying to you ...(edit :if you have enough hit and runs, say 3 or 4 in a year, your company may add asurcharge or raise your deductible but they cannot chagre you for this type of loss)
