rust proofing rims?

it's possible to rust proof the bottom of your car so I was wondering if it's possible to rust proof rims so you can drive them in winter and not cause any damage to them?

ditto
plus if ur rust proof it. wont it turn kinda yellowish after it dries?
actually salt eats thru the clear coat that rims have. another reason why ppl use steelies for the winter

I'm sure you have all seen the ugly rust stains on the alloy rims of pre 2000 Accord EX models and Civic SIR's that were used through winter. The other day I could have swore I saw a 2001 Accord with OEM Alloys with a little rust on the lips of the rims already forming. I guess all it takes is a couple winters for the rims to start rusting. Why do the dealerships even sell cars with alloys when they know that the winters in Canada will DESTROY the rims?

I see people with Sebrings that come with OEM Chrome rims. They drive them through the salt filled snow and they probably have no idea that in a few years their shiny chrome rims will be an orange rust color. Just thinking that those could be my chrome rims makes me sick.

Supposedly alloys won't rust... There must be some problem with the rims if they do. Maybe it's just crap on them rims?

I never got rust on my '92 Accord EX-R OEM alloys, but in the last few years there was some sort of crud buildup that I could just not get off... I drove the car year round, never took particularly good care of the rims.

Isn't alloy = aluminum alloy & aluminum doesn't rust?

is not rust you saw. is dirt and grime.. I have those on my stock rims and with a spray of some rim cleaner. everything is gone..
why would you use your good rims for winter if you want to protect them in the first place.
