HELP: Ground problem or battery?
Had some thick stereo wires put in place instead of stock ground wires today, total of two, engine to front, and battery ground to chasis behind tranny. Car seemed to have ran smooth for a little while, drove down 401 np. Then after stopping and starting the car again, at a stop when I braked, the car lost power!! The deck went off and back on, and the ABS light was on for a little while. Is that a grounding problem, or an electric problem, or is it the ABS? I've not had this happen before so it's a bit unnerving... The last time I had some scare like this my CAI was installed without the ground at the bottom right bumper location grounding properly and I lost power on the right side of the car, right signal and right brakes...
I'm gonna try and run the car for a good 20 minutes now, hopefully this problem won't come back. Any idea?? Is it actually the ABS coming on?? Coz that light was the only light on in the car when this happened........

I don't think is the engine ground or the battery ground wires. most likey the mounting intake point that you mention cuz if it is the battery ground has a problem. it won't be just your deck that goes dead.. your gauges, lights, everything electrical would not work and you car would of stalled. if there is something wrong with the engine ground. it won't affect your deck.
if you are worry is the new battery and engine ground wires. just simply feel the both points of the metal clip and see if it is secure. if they are loose, then tighen it if they are not then it could likely be the the intake mounting point or check out your alarm system..

what I think it was.. after thinking about it some more is your CAI>>> i think you need to see if the filter is really dirty or caught some dirt/snow/water.. and if it is moist and frozen.. then air could not get into your intakemanifold and you feel like you loose power.. have the filter of the CAI look at.... I suspect this to be the problem. let me know what is going on. especially it was snowing hard that night and your filter might be just cover in snow.

From my understanding, I heard the best way to run ground wires were from one end of the chasis to the other while grounding through components of the engine.
Here's how I would do it:
1. Passenger side chassis to negative battery terminal
2. Negative battery terminal to intake manifold
3. Intake manifold (same spot as above) to the tranny
4. Intake manifold (again, same spot) to the drivers side motor mount
5. Then the motor mount to the drivers side chassis.

what you mention is added on ground wires where they don't exist before but he just got the negative battery ground and engine ground replace and mounted same spots as where he orginally have it. if it is the ground problem it will not affect his deck only but the lights and gauges and everything electrical...
if the abs light stayed on. then your car wouldn't be operating normal anyway.

I guess I didn't pay much attention to the original post. [IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG]
Anyways, you might just want to check your connections again cause it sounds to me like you have a loose terminal. Once that's all secure, check all your fuses and make sure they're aren't any that are blown. Off the top of my head that's all I can think of. If worse comes to worse you can always take it back to Honda and have them look into it.
