hi guys and gurls.. i know i have been posted this topic up.... but i need ur answer again...
since my sis is doing a essay on this topic... and we need a vote...
pls answer the question .....and have to explain the answer too thanx.
would you rather want to know the truth.. and be upset... or you rather want a lie.... to make you happy....

It totally depends on the situation.
If it's something trivial that'll bring happiness to someone momentarily and have no repercussions on that same individual, then I would have to say Lie... there's no question about that.
EXAMPLE: If someone asks me if I like their new rims, and I really don't, I would lie and say yes I do. Why, because my response is positive and brings satisfaction/gratitude towards that person. Nobody gets hurt in the end.
If it's something IMPORTANT and that person has a right to know, I would tell them truth.
But then again, I am probably one of the most goofy and sarcastic person you'll ever meet (according to my friends
) so take it as you will [IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG]

Rep Power: 0 first, its very difficult to write an essay on such a topic ... there are so many different situations that it makes it difficult to make your thesis really outstanding. there is always a, "what about if this ... that ..."
if someone lies to you and you're happy then what's the problem? The problem only comes up when you find out the truth, then you're upset. If the truth is never discovered then the person will be blissful in their ignorance. So the question is, assuming the truth will always be uncovered, would you rather me unhappy now or later? In that case, I'd rather be unhappy now, because prolonging the unhappiness will lead to many other issues: i.e. trust

Rep Power: 0 If the truth is always told, a sense of trust will develop, and many times that will overcome any anger or sadness caused by that truth....therefore, always tell the truth....although, it is definitely a very controversial topic for an essay no doubt

Rep Power: 0 truth...cause it would hurt more to find out ive been lied to. netcbc's right, most guys will probably pick the truth, girls will pick being happy. i think girls would be able to see that the other person was trying to spare their feelings, guys wanna know the truth and deal with it directly.

let's say u asked someone out. they're not interested in u. i'd rather have them tell me that than to get a stupid sugar coated lie. yes, the truth hurts but what hurts more? finding out right away or finding out later that she's messing with someone else even though she said she's not looking for a relationship right now...

Rep Power: 0 Well, coming from a Christian background, I was always told that you should tell the truth. I admit that I lie too. But in my pass experience, the truth is much better. You tell the truth and even if there is some problem with the truth, you can always work out the problem or what is making the person unhappy. If you tell a lie, it will come back and haunt you. If the person finds out that you lied, they will be upset in the end as well, but also lose some trust in you.
