problems with civic
this is starting to **** me off!! there's so many problems i have with my civic.
alright, 1st problem. i have an auto, and here's the thing. when you put it in drive, 2nd gear will kick in after 40km/h, then u wait a while and finally, 3rd gear changes at 60-70km/h. lastely, as for the 4th gear, it hardly gets there when i'm driving local, but on the hi-way it's after 100km/h that it would change to 4th. i dunno, is this normal? does anyone else have this problem? (this is moderate driving which doens't go over 3000 rpm)
2nd problem. on those cold cold morings, does anyone's windows frost up? .....on the inside of the car.... LITERALLY!! i don't think this is suppose to happen. i mean my dad's car has a crack on his windshield (pretty big) and still, no problems. so w a da hell is going on?
3rd poroblem. i set my heat on the legs and STILL...MY LEGS ARE STILL FREEZING!!!.. instead, the heat back fires on ur face!!
4th. i gotta say, IT'S FU**ING FREEKY DRIVING ON THE HIWAY!! when ur over 120km/h, the car will weave all over the lane!!!...

also, the weaving thing... the car feels so light that the wind just blows the car away...especially passing trucks!

its only a honda civic! don't expect too much. Maybe you should buy a mercedes or a BMW[IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG]! I probaby have the same problems but i don't complain so much!

yo guy..... relax..... ur gonna expect these things..... its a mass produced car....... its an ECONOMICAL car...... not a mercedes...... so what we pay for is what we get......
1. yes
2. it fogs.
3. as discussed earlier today, its a design flaw.
4. the car weighs like 2 pounds.
5. cheap car.
6. should have bought a nicer car.
7. i know they suck but like i said earlier.... u pay for what u get.
u shouldn't have bought a civic then..... should have stepped up to buy something else probably would be a lot happier.

I don't have any of those problem YET.
When did you get your car? When my gf was breaking in, the gears were like that too.
My window freezes up too but I figure it's -20 outside so it's normal and once i get the heat going, it goes away.

The fogging of the windows is a normal thing. Happens to mine every morning since the temperature dropped. If you keep your car garaged it shouldn't be a problem.
As for the other problems...buy an S2000 or an NSX. I garauntee you won't have those problems with these two cars...except for the forst thing because that will happen to all cars parked outside in minus temperature.

personally this car may MINOR FLAWS.... but hey it beats driving a TOPAZ!
once i add rims to this car.. my car will nicer.
the only downfall is, its super SLOW, but im content with this superslow car b/c the futre holds so much for this car when i drop a RSX type S engine in this super light civic
oh yeah i dont have the GAPS or whatever your talkin bout.

Answers:
1. You have a tranny problem. I had the exact same issue, and after while, my tranny died on me and was replaced under warrenty. 2001+Up Civics have a HORRIBLE auto tranny record, as it is way too weak to handle the measle 1.7L's torque.
2. It frosts up because of condensation. Newer cars have a tighter seal, and less air is going in and out. Clean your windows often.
3. Weak thicker socks.
4. It's the new tallish design to blame for. People demand high "H-point" or hip point, to have an SUV-like driving position. It also increases leg room. Hey, you gotta take the good with the bad. Sedans are worse than coupes. Try lowering your car to improve aero dynamics.
5. Honda's getting lazy. Really, they are. Civic's been #1 compact car seller for so long, they don't give a ****. They pour R&D money into Accords to knock off Camry from #1 podium.
6. If you set your interior lamp to "Door" it will double as a door-ajar symbol. BTW, didn't you check for these things during your test drive?
7. Stock Firestones are the worst tires ever--EVER! Hyundai Accents come with better tires. No, really, they do! Get rid of them, they won't last more than 40,000km anyway.

i agree with the firestone, lucky we dont have a heavy car or those damn firestones will fall off like they do on the explorers
i dont even have grip on those, but when i do its awesome, they be changed to winters anyways when i get rims!
