Thinking of trading for an SiR?
Hey Guys/Girls I was kinda of thinking about trading in my car for an SIR but I am still unsure. I test drove one on Friday and I was very impressed. I dont know exactly how much $$$ it will take but I was wondering if anyone has looked into this themselves before.
I know that they have quite a few sitting on their lots that aren't selling so I might get a good deal.
Any input would be helpful.

Dude, despite the SiR being the rare ones (namely because ppl don't buy them) I think you will be better off with an RSX Premium for similar money (maybe a little bit more, but hey, you get leather!).
The SiR is a nice little design, but I believe it to be overpriced for what it is. You can do up a nice white RSX to pretty nice JDM style....

I love the RSX but these SIR's have been reduced to $22500 for a new 02 and the one I am thinking about trading for is a demo with 8000Kms and I think its going for $21500 and I dont have to pay freight & pdi so I might not have to put much more into it. I guess I will have to see what kind of numbers the dealership throws back at me and make a decision on that. I am hoping that its within $5000 to consider it seriously.

For Sure, I would plan on throwing on the 18's that I have and lowering it. I never really thought much of them until I have seen them done up a little and
they can look really sweet. Check the new kit WW just made for it....awesome. Link to WW

I think SiR is a big failiure.. nobody's buying it. It's sitting in the dealership's lots for a good reason. Look seems to be getting to a lot of people.. not a crowd pleaser, that's for sure.
Poor value too.. it's no longer class leader like the 1st SiRs once were. It was once THE hot econobox--nothing could touch it! But now it gets taken by Sentra SE-R Spec-Vs, Focus SVTs and Matrix XRS..
Lack of good looks, and poor value........ hmm.. no wonder it's not popular.

No we don't!! Nobody needs a $32,000 Civic.... blah!!! You're pushing into WRX territory..
If Honda wants to win hearts of young buyers, they need cheap cars that are fast, not super high tech and super expensive cars.
Prime example? Why they hell did they stuff the lame 1.7L into our cars? 2.0L 160HP engine should have been optional.. because it's a total waste for the SiR. Imagine a Coupe, with Veloz kit, tighter suspension, better wheels, and the 160HP 2.0L engine... sell it for $25,000.. EVERYBODY would be buying it. They'd own the market so hard, it wouldn't even be funny.
But no.
Here you go, little boy. Have a 115HP engine. Give me $3,000 more, and I'll throw you another 12HP (at the peak!). Give me a break. It's a joke!! What kind of an engine upgrade is 12HP?? It's silly. SILLY, i tell you!!

That's what I'm saying..
When you buy a Cavalier Z24, you get 35HP over the Z22.
When you buy a Neon RT, you get 18HP over the base model.
When yo buy a Matrix XRS, over XR, you get extra 50HP.
Protege ES is 24HP over base model//
Grand Am GT is 20HP over base model (plus gobs of torque)
etc etc etc..
At least in the old days (6th gen), getting an Si over LX meant something.. 106HP vs 127HP.. not no more.

Honda oughtta sell crate engines now, they will make so much $$... imagine walking into a dealer and, say, buying B18C1 tuned by Mugen... with mounts and warranty for XX miles....

man u dont know how happy i am to hear you say that.... but dont worry man, they'll do what they did with the DELSOL, they'll slap that 2.0L into the civic coupes soon enough i gurantee it, i think tha hatch was a waste, the looks is unreal..... i like it, but wouldnt buy it for that price, no freakin room.
just like when they discontinued the b16 outta the delsol. what did they end up doing??? slap it in the civic,
if they throw a 2.0L into a civic coupe, i agree, the market will KILL..... the only thing HONDA worries about is gas mileage. they want to be ON TOP of that... but it seems to me its not a big issue.
HONDA obviously knows what they're doing... look at the 03 ACCORD 3.0L 240HP compared to the ALTIMA
3.5L V6 245 i believe???? give or take 5 HP.
HONDA knows what they're doing, i think they should smarten up, the civic's are way lighter then the RSX... but damn those cars have wicked engines in there..... even in there basic RSX... which is running... the sir motor...
why couldnt they do that with our cars????

Acura obviously doesnt not want a civic that rivals RSX. SiR has too much utilitarian value for its own good, that's good, but trying to market it as a hot hatch with its almost 3000 curb weight and a car that resembles a minivan even more than Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe, a wrong wrong move on their part.
who in their right mind buys SiR over base RSX? insurance premium is similar as well, which totally destroys the case for the existence of SiR.
hatch for europe, coupe for america, as simple as that.

The new SIR is a nice little car but there are a lot of cars out there that can keep up with or beat it right out of the box. Honda is leaving it up to the aftermarket world to make the SIR quick. What is hurting Honda the most is that they didn't bring over the Type-R. The Focus SVT is much quicker, handles way better and is better equipped. The Sentra SE-R Spec V is way cheaper, quicker and handles better (but is built like ****). The Volkswagon GTI 1.8T is about $1500 more but is turbocharged, built like a tank, and will run circles around all of the aboved cars.
