ATTN: people with 17" rims!

what rims would make my car look like it was riding on 17's???
is it something with alot of gaps in between the rims or was it somehting with a LIP???

id like to know.
i have an LX and i dont want it overly small and too excessively big!
it would look funny,

the rims would fit nice due to my low civic!

any sigguestion on how much Racing harts are????

Having a 3 piece wheel (wheels with a lip) always look smaller than they are. I've got 17"s that look like 16"s because they've got a lip. You want wheels like the O.Z. superleggeras...thin spoked wheels. Also, there are some wheels out there, that have spokes that go all the way to the outer edge of the rim (hard to explain) but I've seen 17's that looked like 18's!!
Oh and Racing Harts are hella expensive....but worth it imo.

SmoothOperator is right

When i was buying my rims i wanted ones where the spokes go all the way to the outside of the rim.

When there is a lip on the rip the spokes will be shorter and create a smaller appearance despite the rim bing the same size.

I looked at montegi Mr7 and enkei CDR 9. ( choose enkei) Both have spokes that go all the way to the edge.

The length of the spoke is important but the thickness of the spokes and the finish also help create the illusion of larger rims.

I have 17" chrome rims that have fairly thick blade like spokes, they just about reach the end of the rim. They look more like 18"s especially on a hot summer night. I've had people come up to me and say "those rims are BIG are they 18"s or 19"s" and my car is not even lowered.

All true...

But I think #1 appearance note people forget is the size of the centre cap, or the size of the centre part where the spokes begin. If it is large, then it doesn't matter if you have a lip or not, it will look small. But if the centre cap is small, then it will look big.

Examples:

Here's one that has a small centre cap

And one with a bigger centre "area"

Identical lip, and the "mesh" design even has skinner spokes. If it had a even larger centre "area" then you could see it even being smaller.

I've always noticed how large lips make the rim look smaller then they actually are but I never took into account that a large centre cap would make it look that way as well. That's a good observation 01Coupe.

If you want a larger looking 17" rim, I think one of the nicest Racing Hart rims are the one's in my sig (S7). These are my first choice in rims, a close second are the OZ Superleggera's. As for price, I have no idea but I'm gonna assume they're not cheap.

try checking out some mags and rims guides in them...i think you should have an idea of what you want and how much you wanna spend...this is a big investment and can totally change the look of your car.

not to mention make your car become a thief magnet.

I've heard of so many of you here and those at TCC complaining about thieves.

since we are on the subject, I'll be purchasing a set soon.. what can one do to make sure the rims stay on or at least give enough deterrence to fend off most thieves?
buy 4 set of lugnuts? lol.

if you want the look of 17" ...
either get 16" with spokes extend all the way to the edge
or get 18" 2/3-pieces ....
