Getting rid of a tailing Civic on Xmas day (story)
Note: Yes, this happened to ME. Not some story I found off the net....
Summary: Chased down by a*****e (that we know), and lost him through the downtown streets of TO... Streets have packed snow of about ~5-10cm, making it a slippery getaway... No, this is no www.clubsi.com forum "OWN3D an SE-R" or "3rd gear VTEEECK" stories...
Lesson: It ain't all about being the Fast & The Furious, and having the faster car. It's all about skill (I actually prefer 'races' with 2 similar cars than being OWNED).
Cars involved:
Me - 2001 Acura EL (127hp, auto), with Arctic Michelin Alpin (snow tires)
Enemy - 92-95 Civic sedan (~106hp, auto) with stock tires
Refer to diagram: the arrows mean direction of traffic on street. [X] is the house that I need to get to, the triangle is Enemy car.
Well, it's Christmas day and we wake up to some nice fresh snow in Toronto... About 5-10cm, and on the streets, it's mostly packed down already. Streets are pretty darned slippery, but I feel alot better because I have my snows on.
The gf stayed over last night, and she has to get home to take a shower, and then head out to a family gathering of her own... She said I could take a shower with her when we get to her place, so I'm all for it (From here on in you'll have to refer to the ghetto diagram attached to this, otherwise you'll be a bit confused.
So, I'm driving her home ("Start" on the diagram), heading West... She lives on "street 1" where the big X is. As I'm about to turn onto that street, I see right at the corner of the street the Enemy car. It's some jackass that's pissed that she stayed over at my place. I'm only driving like 30km/h, and so I quickly ask her if she wants to invite trouble. She says no, and I drive straight. Because I drive an EL, I sort of stick out in that neighbourhood.... And so, after passing him, a streetcar is behind me, and then he gives chase. I pass "Street 2" (can't go up it, it's a 1 way), and begin heading north on "Street 3". Note that so far the 'chase' is still at slow speeds, no more than 35km/h...
So I head up street 3, and luckily, a minivan is behind us... Then, I see him turn in. (Obviously he can see us turn into the street). The van is about 100m behind me as the driver is very cautious, and about 30m behind him or so, is Enemy.
Now, street 3 has "speed humps", which are really long and wide speed bumps. (They're about the length of half a car)... They're to reduce your speed to 30km/h going up the street. That's fine, as it's really slippery anyway. Minivan is taking the speed humps slow... Ther's sort of enough room, kinda dangerous, to sneak pass the minivan if he wanted to in clear weather, but with so much snow, that's asking for an accident. Then, ****. The minivan decides to park into a parking spot on the side of the street. So, now Enemy is about 150m behind me, with clear view of me, though obviously can't just scream up the road. It's slippery, and the speed humps. Good for me
With me driving like an idiot, I jump the humps going 30km/h or so.... Not too fast, but this car chase isn't about speed anyhow At the top of Street 3 is a set of lights. ****. If I go up there, I may be stopped at a red, and if so, I can only turn right, otherwise I may have to wait, and he'll catch up.
I dash into street 4, another one way, and ****, I mashed the pedal too much. I'm probably going like 40km/h or so... I start drifting, right into the friggen sidewalk... WHACK. I hit the sidewalk. I later find out that my front driver steelie took a beating and has about 4-5 cuts right into the lip of the rim.... Oh well Could have been worse I suppose. Now I'm afraid of the 'wounds' of the rim will rust out... I'll have to use touch up paint on the bare metal in the spring....
Well, in analyzing the drift, I actually counter-steered, which probably got me worse off... I'm thinking now that if I turned INTO the drift, and thus turning wheels towards the curb, I MIGHT have been able to jump the curb, and probably did less damage??? I dunno... Any ideas? I'm not lowered or anything, and no bodykit...
So I'm going down street 4, and Enemy is still behind me, pretty far off, probably 100m or so. So, obviously he can see me turn into this stret. At the Street 4 / Street 2 junction, I look and se it's a one way... DAMN. Well, I see no cars and I go NORTH on Street 2, since it isn't really that far from the main road... Just as I'm turning onto it going North, I see a minivan turn into Street 2, going the right way.... Luckily for me the road is wide also.... So, I quickly turn into Street 5.
So, what's the plan? Well, think about it. Enemy sees me go through street 3, then onto Street 4. By the time he gets to stret 4/street2 junction, he'll be seeing the minivan going south, and no cars north of the junction. Most likely he'll be heading south, thinking that I'm ahead of the minivan. (Sidenote: If I for some reason could not turn up on street 2 (i.e. going the wrong way), I would've looped around streets 2 and 3 for awhile until I got enough room between us to lose him )
I 'hide out' on street 4 for about 20 seconds, then cautiously go north onto street 3... Why cautiously? Because if that punk *** if wondering if he should go down street 4 or whatever, or is driving real slow, I might actually come face to face with him! (To make the story even more complex, right in the middle of streets 4 and 5 is a lane way, so TECHNICALLY, as I'm driving on street 5, and he's on street 4, he could have seen me!)
I hang a right and head East at the traffic light, then quickly do a U-turn when there's no traffic. This way, I'm not a sitting duck waiting at the red light...
After that, he got all crazy and started war dialing the gf's phone and then mine.... Haha. OWNED.
End of story.
Sneaky? Oh yeah He kept on going on screaming over the phone about me being a chicken sh*t and stuff... Don't be angry at yourself for having a crappy car and no MAD SKILLZ like me
Skill? Sorta. Would've been a better story if I didn't smash my steelie into the curb
What happened in the end? I friggen drive around for like 30 minutes because the gf feels too crappy to go see family without a shower, and so we ended up risking it and driving back to her house. She's all pissed now, so I leave her there and I head home for a nice shower. Then, I write this
Not the best OWN3D story out there, but hey, with a 127hp AUTO, and no other performance mods, I don't get too much excitement other than seeing mileage drop to horrible levels
-----
This reminds me of another messed up chase scene involving the same enemy last year... I'm at the beginning of a street that he saw me go down. So, I wait for him. As soon as he turns in and drives, I get behind him and ride his *** with high beams on. Not technically that smart, as he could've really messed with me and mashed the brakes on me. Anyhow, I'm riding his *** for another street, and then we go up the parallel street. But, I know this street, so does he... This particular street has a 'bulge' in the sidewalk to narrow the exit of the street so that the wider street is now narrower, so no idiots try to go up the street in the wrong direction. As soon as he passes that bulge, I mashed my brakes, parked, then walked into a bar He's sittin' out there all fumed and has no idea where I am now.... I watched for like 45 mins, then he left...

Patiently awaiting a sequel.

Hah, didn't know so many were interested in a Christmas story
I should've drawn an overlay diagram in a different colour showing my actual route, and his actual route... I'll do that now in case anyone was confused and actually cares
In regards to why is this loser stalking, let's just say the gf is also a bit messed in the head........ It's one of those messed up "too-good-a-best-friend-turned-messed-up-crap" things..... Bad for me...
Anyhow, here's the diagram to clear it all up "??" is where he lost the scent

Man, I've had situations like that before... not yet in the Civic..
But when I had my Corolla, I had 3 skinheads come after me in a VW Jetta when I was driving my 91 Corolla.. that **** was scray, but I never knew I could drive so well until that very night! I would've shamed Michael Andretti.. or in this case, Tommy Mackinen

Sorry dude, but I'm still confused as to who the "enemy" is and why?
Is this "enemy" your former best friend who likes your girl or you stole your best friend's girl? Or is this her best friend who wants to take her away from you??? During that time she refused to declare she had a bf as "girls with no bf's have more fun".... Well, this guy kept on coming, finally found out about me, but kept on coming.... Ended up being a very good friend of her's.... so good that, well..... you know the rest of the story.... That's like...4 yrs ago.... This BS is still going on, and I'm really tired of it....

DAMAGE REPORT - I finally washed the car today in the freezing cold at the self carwashes, and determined the damage...
1) the lip of the black steelie is rusted as hell... 1/4 of the entire circumference is now brown!
That'll be at least $45 for the rim, plus install to move the rubber onto a new steelie.... I'll leave it for now.
2) Alignment feels messed up... Feels like I'm pulling left... That'll be probably $50-75 for 2 wheel alignment...
