Manual Conversion At Defcon Racing

i've copy and past from my email....check it out seems it's a good deal...i'll see how things go for me...from the dealer ship...if don't work out with them..my car is definately going to defcon..keke..yeA

Eric,
to give you a rough idea of what the conversion consists of here's a break-down
of what you would need:

- Tranny
- Shifter Linkage
- ECU
- Clutch Pedal
- Labour, Cut and Re-weld mounts

For that you're looking at roughly $1500-$2000CDN.

There are also optional cosmetic parts you may want like the Plastic Cowl that
durrounds the shifter (ie. getting rid of the P, R, N, D piece by the shifter
and putting in a manual one with a leather boot)
That will cost roughly $80CDN.

Something else you might want would be a new gauge cluster...one that doesn't
have the P, R, N, D, etc.
that would also be extra.

anyways...that seems to be about it...let me know what you think.

thanks

Darryl
that price is including the parts provided by us..
the whole thing should take anywhere between 3-5 days.

let me know what you think...give us a call at the shop if you want 905-683-1555

oh one thing i forgot to list is a clutch master...but that'sok...it's included
in that price range i sent you.

Darryl

1028: do what i did, write a complain letter and sent to Honda Canada Customer Relation and they will resolve the problem within 2 days.

i did that and they offered me to get my car repair immediately at Roadsports once i mentioned the words "Not satisifed" in the letter

but that price sounds sweet...go with Defcon

hey 1028, that price range seems to be fair. and it sounds like they know what they're doing. get your parents to go to the dealer and bitch at them and say you're not going to trust the third tranny and don't want the problems to come back and try to get them to just pay for it. if they won't then just get the new one, go to defcon and see get it done, then sell your auto to someone or maybe even defcon can find a buyer for you.... heehe... good luck with the dealer man... From my email..

Yes, there are a lot of trannies for your car....you use the same tranny as any
other civic that is SOHC.
we'll be sure to get you a good one. yeah the work should take 3-5 days.

Darryl

$2000 for a stick shift conversion?? Hold up a minute...

What's the mileage you got on your car? Have you thought about the option of selling your car, and buying a 2003 model?... let's assume... you have about 50,000km on your car. You could probably get about $16,000 for it.. you have power windows, locks, mirriors, a/c, micron air filter, etc. A new LX with stick costs $18,000 plus change.. of course, there are taxes and other little crap.

But look at the benifits. You are paying about double the price of the manual tranny conversion.. but you get:

(1) A new car
(2) Factory warrenty
(3) Factory quality
(4) Little upgrades from the newer 2003 model
(5) 0km to start with--hence increasing your resale. What will your car now be worth in another 3-4 years? Not to mention it's a 2003 model, versus a 2001 model. What you will get for the 2003 car 3-4 years from now, will pay for the cost of the tranny conversion itself.

I honestly wouldn't do the change man... maybe as a last resort option, if your auto tranny isn't covered under warrenty or something. Even then, how reputable are these guys, and how much are they willing to stand by their work (there's no guarentee everything will work like it rolled out of the factory).

Just some things to think about...

i understand what u are trying to tell me...but i don't know....i probably keep this car..
my thought is ... if the automatic transmission is not under warrantee...than i might be
switching to manual....because i'll have to paid a price for new automatic...than i was thinking about getting manual...and it's a hassle..selling in the car for manual..
because i would have to take all the parts back out..and put them stock..and then install those back in the new car...after all comes to same..although it's a brand new car...but still
it's a hassle...

1028 has too many parts to remove from his car then install it back on the new car if he really go that route
and our car doesnt worth a lot now in the used car market...i seen 2001 civic with 20K asking for $16500 on auto trader
and my car has higher K so i dont know if i can get that kind of money back...since i paid $22,500 for the car when it was new
