AEM bypass valve for winter?
Now that it's late converting my Injen CAI to SRI, I wonder if I can get away with just getting a bypass valve to stick between the pipes? I really don't see the TO winter getting wrose enough to produce puddles enough to submerge my front bumper??

That's my set up... Will it work? i'll have to wait and see...
Right now the only thing I am worried about is raising my car. My car is way to low for the snow yo. (For those who haven't noticed that rhymes:moon

This is my first winter with mods. I paid $90 through performance improvements. It just replaces the little INGEN red rubber sleeve situated middway through the intake pipping.
Has anybody thought about the pain the in rear its going to be to clean out the filter every couple of weeks because of the slush that will get on it.
You should have saved your $90 and invested the it along with the K&N Filter Cleaner Kits you're going to have to buy for something else...perhaps Revo Technica Short Shifter? Just my 2cents...
I'm going to convert my InJen to a SRI sometime this week.
Btw, funny story this morning. Had to give someone a boost and when I opened my hold, they saw the InJen and two steps back and said "Whoa" a couple of times. Its so sweet looking...

DAMN! Shame on me for posting this thread....... Just today that I caught up browsing this forum (too busy at work lately) that I saw Donny's post!
Man, Donny, I feel it for you! Do the engine swap!! You've got a long winter to do it.
Anyway.
So what just happened to Donny there, would that be prevented with a bypass valve? Also, I'm gonna ask it again, and I assume you guys won't flame me on the question like others will do on this board these days: I've read about people saying just splashing of water can cause water to get in the engine even with a bypass valve, is this true?

Yup! The bypass will only work if the entire filter has been submerged. Think of it as drinking a soda with a straw with a splice in the middle. No matter how hard you try to take a couple of gulps, the splice will take in air, but some soda will still reach you. Did that make sense? I hope so...
The only drawback to the InJen converting to SRI is that there is no mounting braket on the top portion. We'd have to make something to hold it into place. The AEM has this mount, however the filter is located in a totally different stop. Thats why I guess we all went with InJen.
MSoft: Where did you get your Aluminum dash kit and how much??? Looks really nice...

So then I'll still have to do the CAI into an SRI then? Too risky to run it with just bypass valve?
Xian: I got the kit from the States. It did kind of grew on me now, but price was kinda high, and real metal meant it was hard to cut (some parts are crude).
Overall it's a nice dash kit and I'm thinking I'll just keep it, I'm still thinking about whether I want to paint instead. The whole thing with shipping and duty came to about $350CDN in the end.

Honestly when it all comes down to it... The short ram is the better deal. It's a better price, you don't have to worry about it (Water wise) and it will give you pretty well the same damn performance gains as a cold air. Why? well the air that comes in is cold but by the time it get up that pipe is gets warmer (passes by exhaust manifold, Rad, etc...) Also the short ram has a shorter pipe thus better response than a cold air...
Go SRI!
