h2O in my engine
Okay...
As you all remember it was raining hard, really hard on over the weekend on Saturday. Anyway, here I am safely at home doing fuq all so I decided to hit a local pool hall. (Captain Snookers in Mississauga) I picked up a friend of mine and we're off. I decided to take another way through the back of the plaza because some moron in front of me was driving sooo slow. I tried to pass him but he didn't look safe enough for me to get in front of. GRRRRR so anyway, I drove around the back of the plaza, it was raining so hard that I couldn't see through the windshield even with my wiper blades going nuts. Anyway, I didn't know that because of the rain and the crappy setup and locations of drainage around back, there were puddles. They were no ordinary puddles, these were puddles that were like 20 feet long and about 3-4 indhes deep. I drove through and to me and my friend's surprise we saw splashes. Ordinarily if I see a puddle ahead of time, I avoid it or if it's unavoidable I gun through it. Since I didn't expect it, I braked and when I realized it was just water I pressed hard on the gas.
bad move!!! To those who has CAI (Injen) you should know the location of the filter. Near the front passenger side of the bumper close to the wheel well. It didn't help that I had my body kit on (Buddy club) which gave the water alot of space to get in through. As you can imagine, the filter sucked in sooo much water the the engine stalled. As I got out of the car to assess the situation, the water was about an inch higher than my side skirt and my shoes were fully submerged. I knew I was in trouble!!
My friend and I pushed the car off to the side and tried turning the car back on, no avail. SO I decided to go inside play some pool and hopefully the water would've settled and my car would turn on. I called Stunna to come and meet up with me at the pool hall in case the car don't run. After playing we tried the car one last time and it didn't budge. Car was dead!!! Battery was fine but the engine just won't turn. Good thing Stunna was there to drive me home so I can work on the car the next day.
The next day I came back with Stunna, Andoy and a few buddies of mine. Tried everything, clean out the spark plugs, tap the starter with a hammer, jump starting the car by pushing it, and even drained the water out of the engine. How you ask.... I used a straw. YES, I sucked the water out of the engine and out of the throttle body. It was disgusting but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do to get his baby up and running again. You should've seen how much water was in this thing it was ridiculous! Andoy was there and he saw it all, we were surprised it took in that much water. Anyway, after all that the car still didn't start!!

I ended up getting my baby towed to my mechanic. Let me tell you, it's a sad thing seeing your car towed away... very sad thing. Now, I have two cars and all of them have engine problems. But the good news is, the Accord should be ready to roll as per my mechanic. I just need to pick it up and pay them. Soon the civic will be in storage and my Accord is back on the road with full force. VROOOOOOOOOM!!! EXR powah!!! hehehe
So that's how my weekend went!!! hahaha How was yours? hehehe bet it went better than how mine did! kekeke
Perhaps I should mention that I didn't drink the water out of the engine!!! or else, I wouldn't be here!

ouch...
sorry cue...
just as i was reading along and thinking "what if that happened to me"
what if you just drained the remaining oil, just as if you were doing an oil change?
im not a mechanic and dont know much about engines, but would that help any?
REDVIC hook me up w/ a bypass value, i know you have one, but i dont remember if you actually had a injen one.
i dont think injen makes them.

HAHAHA Actually we were looking for those huge bbt straws but there were none... had to settle for one of them ordinary straws.
Hopefully my car just needs to be drained and it can run again... hope I don't need another engine

yeah I figured that I just needed to drain the engine but I was hoping that I can manage to fix the car on my own since it was my fault, and I was to do it at any cost. I'm sure the water was dirty as well as the engine. The water did taste somewhat like gas so I could've been fire-breathing if anyone lit a lighter in front of me. Maybe that's why I'm sick now!!! Hey net, I don't think he drank the water! More like suck the water from the straw, and before it hits your mouth, spit it out!
Man....sad to hear...I don't think I would get a CAI though. I was driving this weekend, and I saw the huge puddles everywhere, especially on the slow lane. I mean you'll never know when it'll start pouring outside, rather not take the risk.
Anyone know if this will work. A type of plastic or bag around the air filter to prevent water from going into the engine? It will probably diminish some performance, but at least you won't have to worry about water.

i was there!.. hahah... i got off work at 7:30 and cue calls me up...... he asked me for help sooo being a good friend (U OWE ME!!! hahahah) i went home grabbed my tools and headed for sauga.
when i got there, cue's car was sitting in the middle of a barely lit up ally way.... took my tools out and screw the spark plugs off (took kinda forever cuz of some minor difficulties hahahah). when we looked inside, all we see is water with little fishies swinmming around hahaah.. j/j but yeah... we were able to see the water level....... soo cue, being such a bright person decided to suck all the water out..... and soo he did...... we took 3 normal non bbtea size straws and connected it end on end... and there was cue sucking his engine... hahaha... after "sucking" for about 15 minutes (#1, #3 pistons, and throttle body) we decided to start the engine... still wont turn over...... attepmted to push start it, and still wont turn...... sooooo with all our efforts gone we decided to call it a night and get it towed
very sad...... it was kinda cool though..... cuz it reminded me of a funeral service convoy....... imagine a tow truck towing cues' civic doing 40km/h with my civic and another car behind the tow truck with our indicators on..... hahaha... but still..... that was an experience. night was still worth while..... got to meet *ahem* hahah.. cue u know who it is..... (LAKAD MO AKO SAKANYA!!)

did u guys wait till the car got dry after all that sucking??
hmm..well wat is the damage ?... u know how much u got robbed?
i didnt even go out on the weekend.. just got my car washed and as soon as i saw rain.. i stayed home all weekend

i think the only way to get rid of "ALL" the water is to remove the engine and open it up....... when u drain the oil u only drian the oil pan and inside the engine... but water got through EVERYWHERE.. throttle body including... the whole engine seemed "locked" no matter how hard we tried pistons didnt want to move.....
I think this was saturday, but i hit 2 major puddles, waters splashed extremely high and i was thinking.
Good thing i didn't get my CAI yet!!!!!!! but for sure, i'm going to get a bypass valve
