15" steelies for cheap? Also, Q about where to buy tires
Looking for some place to buy some new 15" black steelies...
I'm looking for 185/65/R15 Michelin Arctic Alpins mounted on 15" steelies onto my EL....
So far I've found the following: $111 *4 for rubber, + $45 * 4 for steelies + tax == $720 at Green Bay Tire... 905-881-0548
There's so many Chinese people lining up for tires!
I then look at Cdn Tire.... $108 *4 for tires, + $62.50 *4 for rims + ~$10-15 per tire for balancing/mounting + tax == $830ish + Cdn Tire dollars if pay by cash....
I'm thinking to go with Green Bay Tire all the way, however I'm not sure if they balance the tires!!! You also lose some freebie stuff like free rotations every 10k at Cdn Tire though if I go with them.... I htink they have some sort of 5 yr Michelin warranty, some sort of Road Hazard Warranty.... does that mean they fix flats for free??
My idea was to get the best of both worlds, and buy steelies from Green Bay, and then bring em over to Cdn Tire........
-------
UPDATE: Just called them up...
They will balance and mount the tires at "no charge" (i.e. already included into price)...
Michelin Arctic Alpins $111 + tax (185/65/R15)
15" rims $45 + tax
For me that'd come to $717 + Tax.... That's hella expensive for winter rubbers
But still the cheapest...
Oh well, I can forego the 10k rotations... I'll get my buddy to do it, he's got a jack
The guy also mentioned some Pirelli W160 tires for $92 each....

I just outfitted my brother's SE-R with 195/60/15 Michelin Arctic Alpin at Canadian Tire, they were $116. 15" steel rims were $50/each. Balance was $10/each.
I bought my summer Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 from Green Bay. They did a horrible job with the balancing. I brought it back twice and still couldn't get it done properly as my steering wheel was vibrating at highway speeds. I then decided to pay Consumer Tire to do it for me and they did a good balance on their first attempt.
My friends and I find that Green Bay has good rubber prices, but their balancing needs some work. My friend mentioned that they have an outdated balancer.

I was driving on the highway this morning, and smiling about how I'm getting no vibrations and stuff on my new Arctic Alpins (i.e. installed correctly)...
Then I notice that my steering is off centre in order for me to drive straight!!!! I think I need an alignment...
DAMN PUNKS AT GREEN BAY TIRES DID A CRAPPY JOB
Looks like I'm pulling left.... Since I'm not in TO during weekdays, I have to bring it in next wkend....
