The IS 300 was an auto, but I think the kid was using those little paddle shift things. But anyways the auto's have a poor start obviously (So did he). I have no doubt that they do low 15s in the quarter, but the race was not a quarter mile, it was slightly shorter. Like I said, believe me if we were doing a 1/4 mile race he would have killed me!!! but it wasn't (We only got up to about 110km). I posted this thread to see (and for others to see) that thses cars are within are range. So when you pull up to a stoplight and you think that the car next to you will kill you, give it a try... you might be surprised of the outcome!

Rep Power: 0 Hmmm.. actually you know what.. that makes sense. If he used the paddles, the cars starts off in 2nd gear (my dad's GS400 does that).. or if you try to do aggressive launch (hold the brake, and rev up, then release the brake) with the traction control on, it also boggs down the engine and will kick into 2nd gear as well. He would've just sat there while your car took off!
So maybe you did beat it.. I never thought about it that way before!

LOL... mankind... hey don't worry. I think you just need to focus on your launch. The last week or so, ever since the major temperature drop, the Celica's tires been spinning like mad in the 1st gear, right up to redline. They're not gripping in the colder weather..
