Just got back from drag races...

Hi guys, im in Tennessee in the good old U.S.A. Im here for work and i was off today so i went to the Bristol Dragway (next to the Bristol NASCAR race track) for the "year one" drag race competition. It was freaking amazing.

First couples of hours were open to the public for racing the 1/4 mile. Some sweet cars. There was a new beetle (ugly but fast) running in the 11's. They sold race fuel at the track. 114 octane. Very expensive, $6 a galon.

Then the bigs boys came out. The alcohol funny cars. Most cars that were running were on average of 6000hp. Thats rights 6000hp, holy crap. 1/4 in under 6 seconds at 190+ mph!

Then they brought out the jet car. A race car with a F-15 engine on it!!!. This car has 6000lbs of thrust and weighs only 1100lbs. It did the 1/4 mile in 4.3 seconds and at 293 mph!!! It actually lit the track on fire because the jet engine dosent burn 100% of the jet fuel and the fuel burns in the track.

All i can say is i cant hear anything right now from the after burners of the jet car, but the cars i seen today were well worth it.

By the way, the jet car burns 2 galons of jet fuel every second. That can get very epensive.
