you ready to hear!!!
im in st kitts, and i dorve an hr and 15 minutes to go and buy rims. the guy said that we could buy them if
i got approved credit and i could put them on a payment plan that would allow me to buy the rims interest free as long as i paid them over a year. well its been 5 months now and i put 1500 on my card. i have made 500 in payments. i put 100 down a month and than th last few months ill put a little more down. i keep getting my statements and i get charged 29% interest. my bill now stand at 1433.62 and i have paid 500 over the months. so if its interest free why am i getting interest. so i called the guy atleast once a month ( this has been ongoing since april) they assure me that everything will be taken care of. i have made long distance calls and i keep doing that. well a guy calls me today and tells me that they have never offered a interest free plan when you buy anythinhg from their stores. Everytime i have called them they say that they do, and now all of a sudden they dont. well today im sick and also in a bad mood and the guy calls me and tells me that im a liar and whatever else he said. i went nuts on the guy and used every bad word there is to use. he told me he was bring me to court for slander....i told him i was bringing him to court for false advertising. Now i suck becuase ill probably have to pay more than what my rims are even worth.

in all the keele st store has crappy service.!!!
they screwed up my alighnment and didnt balance my tires right!!
when i got home i had to pay 150 to get them realigned and balanced......

so whoever the guy is who works for superior tire.....give me a shout.....

sorry about all the spelling and grammer mistakes..im in a rush, sick, and tired andcant be bothered to fix this

That really sucks... Never ever trust company's that advertise "no interest", there are always find prints...

As for the whole lawsuit thing, there's no such thing as slander, there's freedom of speech in this country you can say anything you like (unless it's classified as hate crime, but you're the one getting ripped!). BTW, did you have any documentation and such (invoice, letter, promo flyers) on the no interest part?

Anyway, as for crap tires, you just need to make noise to the store manager... I do agree tho, they are a crappy chain, just that there's no competition to them in Canada.

Damn, that makes it more complicated... But if you do file a lawsuit against them I'm sure the lawyers can get their hands on the flyer...

How about invoice?

Yeah, those guys are coc-ksuckers man... here's a letter I wrote to the top dog of their company. Response? NONE.

Dear Mr. Paul Hyatt;

I wrote this letter to tell you how disappointed I am with the service provided at Superior Tire & Auto. I spoke to you briefly about it on the telephone two weeks ago, which I might add was the only good customer service I found with your company thus far. I am sure that you deal with many clients, so I will tell you exactly what happened from day one.

I purchased a set of 17x7 Motegi MR-7 Gunmetals with 215/45/17 Yokohoma Avid H4 for my 2001 Honda Civic Coupe from your Keele & Lawrence location, on May 4th 2002. The price was $1575, including the hardware and installation. I was originally going to purchase them at another place in Milton at a lower price, but I liked my salesperson's (Mike) service so much at the time that I decided to drive the extra distance from Hamilton to buy it from there, at a higher price ($75 more).

After having the new wheels and tires installed, I noticed vibration coming from my steering wheel after I hit 80km/h. The vibration was so intense that when I let the steering wheel go, it was a big blur. Coincidently, my other vehicle, just prior to this event had the identical problem after getting new tires, but was solved after proper wheel balancing. So naturally, I assumed it was the balancing problem on this vehicle as well. I took a few friends of mine on the highway with me that evening, not telling them about the vibration, but immediately they noticed it.

Next morning, on May 5th, I called my salesperson and told him about the issue I was having. He asked me to come in next week, which I did on May 11th, and the wheels were rebalanced. I immediately took it on the highway but noticed the same problem happening again, only this time, at an improved 100km/h.

I returned to the shop on May 13th, but the shop was too booked. So I returned again the following week and one of the mechanics took my vehicle out for a test drive. I specifically requested him to drive on the highway, where it is noticeable. City streets have potholes and uneven roads so it would be difficult to see how badly the steering wheel is actually vibrating. He did not bother to take it out on the highway, instead just drove around in the city streets. When he returned, he told me it was my shocks. They were apparently too worn out. My shocks are worn out?? This is a 2001 model vehicle here. 14 months old. And the shocks are shot? I was puzzled, and he said that the tires are too low profile for cars like Civics. I think you and I both can agree that he was talking nonsense. Even if my shocks were worn out, what does that have to do with the vibration from the steering wheel?

I requested for another balance, and he did so. I took it out on the highway again, but this time, there were no improvements. To make the matters worse, my alignment was off, and now the vehicle steers itself off to the left. This was when I decided to call the Action Line, and spoke to you. You asked me to call Jason, who was the manager of the Keele & Lawrence location, and that he would be able to take care of me.

I am sure Jason is very experienced in this industry, as he is the manager, but he was extremely difficult to deal with. We spoke for about 20 minutes, and the entire 20 minutes, all he managed to do was defend himself.

First off, he stated that I chose the wrong tire size. He said Civics under no circumstances should have tires that big and it was why my steering wheel was vibrating. Granted, I was recommended 205/40/17 originally, but I requested for the larger 215/45/17. But there was a very good reason for that.

I did extensive amount of research prior to deciding on 215/45/17. I spoke with many people who have the exact same car, and everyone recommended 215/45/17. And none of them had any vibration problems. I also looked into some mathematical calculations prior to deciding on the size as well.

My stock tire size is 185/70/14. The total diameter of that is 24.2in. If I had purchased 205/40/17, the diameter would be only 23.5in, therefore, with an almost 1 inch difference, it would be way too small. The speedometer would be off by 3.1%.

The 215/45/17 on the other hand would be 24.6in, which is much closer to the stock diameter than the 205/40/17 is, with a difference of only 0.4in. Speedometer would be off by only 1.7% too. I tried to explain this to Jason, but he would not listen and said 205/40/17 is the right size. He said he is the expert and I really should not argue to him about numbers. I asked him if he even knew what size my stock tires were, and he responded, "Yes, they are 185/60/14." I told him that they were in fact 70-series, and he replied by telling me that they are the same diameter, hence why I should have went with 205/40/17. You and I both know, that this is not true.

Then he started to talk about how Motegi only makes entry-level rims, and that would also contribute to the vibration. He also reminded me that $1575 package price was an excellent price, and there were other customers willing to buy it from him more happily than I have been. I will not say what I think he implied with that statement. Also he said that he has to pay his mechanics by the hour and I should be lucky to have him look at the car once again. Someone should remind Jason that $1575 was a package deal, and proper installation was part of it. I understand mechanics are not cheap, but it costs me money to drive up there as well. I have to take time off work and use up my gas to go there.

Frustrated after speaking with Jason, I just made an appointment with Active Green & Ross in Hamilton for wheel balancing. 30 minutes and 50 dollars later, the problem was solved. It was in fact the balancing problem. Now, even at high speeds of 160km/h plus, the steering wheel does not shake at all. The new alignment problem is still there, but with another 50 dollars, I'm sure I can get that taken care of as well.

On a side not, a friend of mine, Kerry Lys, who purchased wheels & tires at the same location, had the exact same problem as I have. She went with the recommended 205/40/17, but she had to go back and forth 3 times trying to get the problem fixed. She finally had to goto another tire shop, where they properly balanced it for her.

I do not know what exactly is involved in balancing a set of wheels and tires, but needless to say, I am very disappointed with the service thus far. I do not know if it is your mechanics or your equipments, but something is off.

Regrettable to say, I cannot recommend Super Tire & Auto to anyone. A friend of mine wanted to buy a set of 17in wheels & tires for his car a week ago, and inquired to me about where I purchased mine. Well, sorry to say, I did not send him your way. He ended up mail ordering it from a shop in USA. I have another friend and a brother who is also in market for rims & tires very soon, but again, after hearing my story, they have no desire to shop at your location.

I apologize for the long letter, but I just thought you should be aware of what goes on in your stores. I am no business guru, but being in the retail sales myself, I know this is not how a business should be run. It had cost me time, money and frustration to shop at your Lawrence & Keele location. And in the end, I was still not satisfied. Even now, I am still extremely angry with the "BS" I received from the mechanic and Jason regarding the shocks & tire size. Maybe they thought I knew nothing about cars and how they work. Nonetheless, a business should have some integrity. At Superior Tire & Auto, I found none.

Sincerely,
James

DO NOT SHOP THERE!!

if you have anything legitimate stating that it was interest-free take them to court, if you don't then you're out of luck. anything else is just heresay, your word against the corporation's and you're pretty much out of luck...

on a side note, there's pretty much nothing to balancing a tire... it takes about 5 minutes if that and is for the most part idiot-proof... the computer tells you what to do...

thats just the point...if it only takes 5 minutes and is idiot proof than they should have been able to do it right and not take them 3 times to do it.....and still not do it right?!!!
