The best gas mileage I got was around 8.0L/100km.... don't know how honda got those numbers (7.5L/100km city, 5.9L/100km highway) ... they must be driving really conservatively without turning on anything...

Past two tanks with my new Injen CAI my AT traveled consistent 450KM on 37L of gas on the dot. That's 8.2L/100KM... I drive 90% city streets so I think I'm quite close to the Honda numbers for a SOHC VTEC Civic, despite the CAI.

Little crappy things like aerodynamics (having your windows open, sunroof open at highway speeds, AC, electrical (booming bass, lights, etc.) should have SOME impact on your mileage.... If we're to get that picky

My crazy *** numbers come from like 90% highway driving at 120km/h, all windows rolled up, no AC.... (Auto 1.7EL), running Shell 87.]

It should also be noted that sometimes when the light comes on, you can "turn it off" for a while longer by restarting the car.... I've had a few times where I had the light come on, turn off the car, start it back up and the light's off....

Ok here are my Results!!!

I ran to 647 Km before filling up. I put in 43 L which means I had 7 L left in the tank.
The gas light came at 580.

So 43 L/647km = .0664 X 100 = 6.64L every 100km

I believe I may win my own challenge.
Just to let you know, I never red line the car, windows up and A/C basically never on. Oh, I have manuel transmision.

you ran an extra 67kms after the light came on.... impressive, i'd be pissing my pants after 20kms when the lights come on.... afraid of looking stupid from running out of gas.

The low gas light comes on when you have 1/8 of a tank..that's still alot of gas.....it's designed so that old ladies who always seem to "not notice the arrow thingy was on the red E" don't get stuck on the side of the road needing a fill-up...I used to work at a gas station/garage...You'd be amazed how many people "specially middle aged women" run out of gas..

I was at 645.6 KM (All city driving/no freeway...I hail from MB) when my light started bugging and filled the car for $26! SpecificCivic might have been struggling a little but I just had to do tha Kramer thing and take it to tha limit lol! I probably would have pulled about 680 Km. OH YAH! SpecificCivic is a bone stock 01 DX w/ no mods, cruise, tach, A/C, & NO BASS).

i notice that short drives burn a lot more gas than longer drives..... i guess its cuz the cold oil uses more gas.... cuz when i drive for longer periods the gas meter goes down A LOT slower.....

Hello Guys,
Since our car aren't that fast we don't have much to brag about with speed. But lets see who can get the best milage on 1 tank of gas......
I'll start off and people can follow if they want.

2001 Civic si
5 spd
Mods that would affect milage: Exhaust rear section only
Most mileage on 1 tank: 642 kms
How much left in tank on fill up: 11 L

Have fun
Wow, thats not bad. I recently filled up at 640km or so and had about 7L left and even then I did some snappy accelerating during that fuel run. I'm guessing I could stretch to almost 700km if I grannied it for the whole tank. Even then thats still under 40mpg but oh well who cares about fuel mileage that much - as long as it's over 30mpg I'm happy!
