Get the cobras from Price club... $80 for 2. Maybe split it with someone. Most of us have the Motorola 5100 (blue/black), 5200 (red/black), and the new motorola is 5350 (purple/black)... pretty nice. The cobras have subchannels for better frequency and privacy. Same with the 5200 and 5350 but the cobras are cheaper and works just as well.

Well some of us have cobras, motorola (different models too) and some even have fisher price... but as long as you are on the same channel, you'll be able to pick us up. As for the distance, it's mainly for cruising. The distance is supposedly 3.2 Kms so you can't really go too far. We're not talking trucker radios kind. Get the ones that has sub-channels, if you could... but if you cruise with us, sub-channels are useless because not everyone has sub-channels. But get it anyway, it's a cool tool to have.

All these radios are FRS - Family Radio Service which is a series of radio frequencies designed for public use. So there are no monthly charges.

Spoonsi... I got my Motorola for 50 bucks from radio shack (Courtesy of Andoy) anyways, like I said there the new 5350 motorola that's out and it's pretty nice. But like I said it's purple.. should be around the same price.

so far I think the best deal is the Cobra from Price club. My parents bought a pair for use when they go to the cottage and let me tell you, it's better than my Motorola and it has sub channels, and it has a cool sound when you talk... well you won't hear it but we will when you talk...
