I would like to know how many kilometers you've been told to be the break-in period, and what's the proper way of doing it? Do you drive city, highway? Are you not allowed to accelerate past a certain rpm? I hear a lot of different things... can anyone help?

1000km is the norm....5000 is a real break-in to some ppl...

as long as u keep ur rpms moving...and not stationary at say 3000rpms for prolonged periods of time ur ok...
use a variety of speeds and rpms...downshift...upshift...

and thats what its all about!

Blah.. there is no break in period really anymore these days. In the old days there used to be a lot of friction between the cyliners and the engine block, but now days, even brand new, it's quite slippery.

Do 1,000km to be absolutely safe... keep it at a low RPM. But after that you're good to go. And yeah, don't do your 1st oil change till 8,000km.
