it won't if you don't rev it all da time..reason why ppl think it is..
cause once you have intake..you rev it for the roaring sound..

FlippedOut: yes .. you will consume more gas ... the intake adds more air to your engine's air/fuel ratio and so to evenly balance the ratio, more gas is needed ...

if you are deciding to go with a cold air intake .. you have two choices ... INJEN .. or .. AEM ... the choice is your's .... what kind of civic do you have (lx/si .. auto/5spd) ?..

I got myself an AEM CAI for 4 bills flat; Installed myself.

Word of caution, tho- YOU'RE GONNA NEED A 27mm socekt wrench bit for this mother-*****! That was one huuge bolt, only had to twist it like 20 degrees tho!

anyways, no complaints whatsoever from the AEM CAI. Sweet as sweet can be, i guess.

As fo gasoline consumption, with going revv happy everynow and then, no, my gas consumption has not gone up at all.
That's about it

OT: WTF? Why is it snowing again?!

Peace

I bought the fake AEM CAI for $150. I'm running it as an SRI right now, it sounds incredible.

EHouse is right, i needed a crazy deep socket AND a torque wrentch AND a hydraulic jack for my AEM cold air. i didnt notice a difference in gas consumption. i think a lot of that really has to do w/ how hard you drive the car.

I've got the full Cold Air AEM, going all the way donw to the bottom

It does increase fuel consupltion. Not just from getting rev happy.

I've noticed it taking long trip on the highway, you waste a bit more.
