got caught speeding on 7 (near Langstaff Rd)
Wanted to go get my girlfriend a rose on my way to pick her up... so I took 7 instead of the 407 so I could go to like Fortinos or something.. I was going west... anyways, not really going that fast for Highway 7 standards... guess I was just unlucky, two cops cars, one did the radar gun, one did the waving me to pull over.
116 on 80 km/h. The fine is $271 He didn't even reduce it... also, 2 other cars got pulled over too while he was writing me up.
Ok, here are some questions:
1. It doesn't say anything about points on the ticket... does that mean none?
2. Any of you have experience with the Trail Option? Is it true that if the cop doesn't show, then I'm off the hook? Would the judge lower it if I said I couldn't pay because I was a student...
Anyways, any help on this matter would be appreciated.

Fight it by yourself. xcoppers are a scam, my sister got a ticket for rearending this suv and the driver of that suv happened to be a firefighter, so he was buddying up with the cop at the crash scene. my dad hired xcoppers to fight, and they didnt show up for us at court for the hearing when she was gonna fight the ticket. xcoppers are b.s. they're basically retired cops - who in my opinion were a$$holes to begin with
Another thing, I'm not saying that it WASN'T my sister's fault for following too closely. My point IS, don't bother spending money on xcoppers. Just take the time instead to lower the ticket charge and possibly take demerit points off.

ya supYO is right, 4 points
here's a link to the POINTTS website ==> POINTTS demerit points for anyone interested
There are so many other ones like xcopper... like POINTTS and COPS, does anyone else have experience with these services? so far one person said xcopper is bad...
I'm not venting really... I broke the traffic law so I guess I'm just looking for the best way to reduce the effect this will have on insurance, etc. Speed limit on Highway 7 of 80km/h is too low anyway, the road is so smooth and wide

so brodie_rider, they just didn't show up? so what ended up happening? did you still have to pay them? they have this "We Win or It's Free" thing right... so what happened?
Well, they just didn't show up to the hearing so my sister had to just pay the fine. It happened 2 years ago, I don't quite remember how much she had to pay but it was a big ticket.
good luck dude.... I've only been penalized for one speeding ticket my whole life and I paid it off... 133 on 100 but he dropped it to 115, so far, no change on insurance. Lucky I guess.
I feel the pain, cops luv the color of my ride, they seem attracted to it. 4 tikets since July, contesting all of them in courte. I got lucky with my speeding ticket, talked sappy talk to the cop (who showed up to court) and he aggreed to drop the charges. I told him that my insurance would double at least and it was only a 10 over, so he felt bad, dropped charges.
Good luck with yous, rule of thumb, you get a ticket...fight it...cauz u never know

points start at 16... so I guess that's why you didn't have points ... therefore no insurance changes
I got a call from xcopper today and they told me approx. $400 + GST... whether they win or lose. If they win and the charge is dismissed, they make $400... if they lose, they make the difference between $400 and $271 fine.. which is about $130.
Don't know if I can trust these people with what brodie_rider said about his bad experience...

yah I don't like the sound of that dude... If someone already had a bad experience with them I wouldn't try it. I'm sure those other ones like POINTTS and COPS are better.
Chlorine, I say ditch the xcoppers. You don't want to take a chance with them. But check out the other guys, like POINTTS or whatever. I think your safest bet is to go yourself and give them a really good sob story. Being a really good liar will help you out in the situation. I hope the best for you bro.

just got another call... this one is from COPS
slightly different situation... the cost is $240 for them to work for me
they said they will try to get it down to 0, but worst case is get it down to 3 points (which they said is considered minor, maybe won't affect insurance or something)...
if they can't even get it down to 3 points, they said they'll give my money back.
ya I think I will rule out xcopper. That leaves the other places / going by myself... we'll see what my parents have to say.

I paid $500 cash to POINTTS downtown (north of Danforth/Broadview?) (Near that friggen DVP bridge where freaks jump) to fight a *6* point ticket
... I rear ended a friggen TANK; the tank was driveable, my Civic ended up being totalled. They said they'd try to reduce it down to 4 points (Following Too Closely versus 6 pts for Careless Driving).... On the court date I was pissing my pants. The stupid 'lawyer' was busy, and said "if you hear your name, and I'm not here, don't do anything, the judge will call your name again later".... He was running between court rooms, as he had two other cases to fight! He spoke in front of the judge for no more than 30 seconds, and because NO ONE showed (the cop was supposed to show, as well as the other 'witnesses', the people I smashed), the ticket was thrown out. If this is your first big offence, and you've never touched the courts before, pay the money so these guys can take your hand and walk you through while you wet your pants.
My insurance is $6000/yr now for a stinkin' EL.....

On a side note, a friend recently got ticketed for JAYWALKING near UofT campus...hahahaha He went to fight it by himself, and the the judge threw it out...
Actually, this brings to mind another funny story.....
A friend gets into a slight fender bender, rear ending somthing (I think it was another car)... so he's leaking some fluid, some radiator damage, etc... nothing TOO bad... (He drives a beater car, recently upgraded to a 2000 Accord coupe)..
So he's driving his beater to the bodyshop near his house.... all of a sudden, WHOOSH! He can't see a thing! His damn hood latch must've broke during his first accident, and so he's swerving and crap all over the place! He ends up wrapped around a utility pole! I didn't see it myself, but he said his car was WRAPPED around the pole, but still driveable....
So, no one is hurt but the utility pole. He calls police anyway, and waits for like an hour. He gets annoyed and decides to drive off, as his bodyshop is like 1 block away. This time he's smart and duct tapes the hood closed
He limps there, and gets the car in... As he's there, a cop comes up to the owner and asks if he has seen a damaged car pass by. He says no..... lucky lucky lucky....... (apparently his beater has been to the bodyshop a few times, so the owner knows him)

I got screwed speeding too...... 137 in a 100...im fighting it with pointts...Its like $315 but they are going to try to reduce it. Allthough they say you didnt get any points, or they have reduced it to save you points you still got them. They didnt saya nything to me, but i got 4..... i found out the hard way....thats considered aggressive driving so my insurance company freaked out... ya but fight it, you've paaid for court time already.....but i wouldnt fight it alone.....go somewhere
I've been caught twice in two weekends back in november for 28 over both times, word to the wise, DO NOT SPEED IN WINDSOR!!! These guys are no joke in there all black cruisers, blacked out chrome , blacked out light bar, the cop cars(two of them) are the complete absence of light, no colour what so ever so please be careful. They actually look pretty cool! Also no not speed between Thamesville and and Tilsonburg. These are towns south of London on the 401. This is the area where all the crashes occur and it is radar alley in south- western Ontario.
You should definately fight the ticket...I got pulled over for a left turn on red at Morningside and Kingston (it was yellow!) and the cop wrote me a $175 ticket and 3 points. I took it to court and the cop didn't show up. As long as the cop doesn't show, plead not guilty and your off the hook due to lack of evidence. They will offer you deals on the ticket in court if you do plead guilty but ignore it if the cop isn't there...DONT PAY FOR SOMETHING YOU DON'T HAVE TO!
