so basically what happened was.. my mom said this van turn into silverstar but she couldn't follow the van for some reason. So before going to the collision centre (what the popo told my dad to do), he wanted to see if the van was still there... sure enough, it was still there and the girl driving it was eating. So my dad waited for her to come out and kicked her.. hahaha yea right... when she came out, she said she didn't know she hit anyone. Basically in the end she said she'd pay for the damage.. So now I just gotta go get the estimate.

what are the odds of finding the van there still.... crazy

Just to let you know... if the accidented wasn't reported to the police within 48 hours.... LEGALLY she doesn't even have to pay for any damages. She can claim she didn't do anything and get away with it.

Like we said... you should have reported it. That way can cover your ***.

Just take the plate number to your local police station and they will check up on there system and call the person to get them to come in and give you all the info you need or if they don't the police will go and charge them.

Don't count on the police laying any charges or even anything coming from it, especially if this occured in Toronto. I was hit and run last year by some jackass that scraped my back bumper and took off. I got a plate # and reported it to the cops. From what I was told, the hit and run squad is severely understaffed and they only finally spoke with the guy that hit me about a month after the fact, and of course no damage existed on his car, so they only questioned him and did nothing else. I ended up paying out of my own pocket since it wasn't worth filing an insurance claim since the damage to my car was minor (about $300).

you wont ever get the info of where the guy lives unless YOU are a cop. Call the police and hope they do something about it. Sometimes they dont, Ive been bugging the cops do something about a minor hit and run (whcih I got the plates) for months, and cops wont do much more for me then take a report. I keep calling the investigator monthly so eventually maybe.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON ANY REPORT FROM MTO, they tell you NOTHING you dont already know, except for the last reported km's

i would've called 911 if it just happened and tell them they just drove off and you got the plate. they they have to send someone over to help. otherwise they'll get pretty lazy and not really look into it. but its too late now anyway.

416-808-XX00

XX being the respective station (32 division = 3200)

I don't know if you have them in TO BUT you know the licence machines in malls. The ones you can update your sticker on your plate. All you have to do is punch in the plate number and it gives you the name and address registered to the plate.
