anyone else experience a flood?
Well as if i wasnt having a bad day already...... i come home from sisely honda to find out that my basement is completely flooded.... there was about 4-5 feet of water... enough so you could take a swim...
Anyways.... turns out the pipelines on my block were jammed.... hence all the water kept building up... and it pushed its way out of a drain in my laundry room....
Long story short:
Damages = over $15,000
............ and the insurance company is still invesitgating the situation... they stated that it might not be covered....
I lost alot of car related stuff aswell....

Wow
That is messed up. Sorry to hear about your week. Though hopefully it cannot get any worse -- I honestly don't see how it could at this point.

wtf... if you have home owners insurance it should cover everything that was damaged. I mean what's the point of having insurance if they're not gonna pay for anything? fvcking insurance companies kill me... call them and b!tch!
Anyways, hopefully everything works out for you... your basement looks pretty fvcked man... sorry to hear that ****.

Thats the thing with insurance. If you shop around for the lowest rate possible, you will get what you pay for. My grandparents had a great company and they paid the price for it. When they had a fire and the roof needed to be fixed, they fixed the roof but it looked different then the rest of the roof on the back of the house since it was an old house. The company re did the whole back side of the roof to make it all look the same. It just goes to show you, you get what you pay for.

No flooding at my house, but I did see a good amount of flooding on the roads. Me and my buddy were just leaving for Detroit when the storm hit. It took us 2.5 hours to get from Warden and the 407 to the 407/401 interchange in the west end.
Warden Ave. in Markham
Warden and 14th
407 just before Keele, there are 4 lanes of traffic under all that water.

thanks for the support guys....
its been over 1 week and the insurance company has still not arrived..... the house smells like ****.... and we didnt have hot water for 4 days.
Anyways i just received a call from the insurance company, and they said there heading out tomorrow.... but right before he hangs up, he happens to mention that there is a limit of $50,000 worth of damages for "water related issues".
In otherwords... i wont be able to claim half my stuff.... obviously the more important house hold products are the first priority:
1) wash/dryer
2) fridge
3) water heater
4) furnace
5) drywall
6) carpeting
7) Furniture
These products alone.... i am assuming will cost well over $30,000 to be replaced

So how'd everything work out? Whats the deal with all your stuff? Did they end up replacing everything, or just a few things??
I've never been a big fan of insurance, you pay alot per month, and when it comes time to use your insurance, they give you a hard time.

UPDATE:
Insurance company finally sent out an adjuster and a contractor to my house today... more than 1 week after the inccident.
They began by cutting down all the drywall and removing the carpets... then they put heating devices... humidifiers...coolers..etc...
The told me once the basement is completely dry (5-6 day process).... then they will come back and re-inspect.
With reguards to the claims.... electronics.. furniture.... household appliaces and so on... the insurance company gave me a bunch of documents to fill out.... describing each item/manufacturer/date of purchase/condition etc.......
They said once i fill everything out, i should call them, and they wwill take my reports and give it to the insurance company, which will investigate the situation......
Basically it comes down to this..... alost everything will EVENTUALLY be covered (not including anything car related)..... they said the whole process of re-finishing my basement will take 3-4 months.... because there are over 5000 claims....
With reguards to all my car equipment.... they said i have to take it up with my car insurance... in other words it wont be covered under my home insurance...
