There was a 70 knot change in the wind... from 30 knots one way, to 40 knots the exact opposite way from one second to the next...
I dunno how 'shitty' the pilot was given the conditions, but its just good to see no one was killed...

6 shootings (unrelated) in 2 hours, plus 2 more seperate shootings hours later...8 shootings in 24 hours...then police shoot a guy 3 times in the chest....less than a week later 3 more DEADLY shootings...
this seems to becoming the norm...

Everybody managed to escape alive, thats all that matters.
I fail to beleive that a bolt of lighting could cause brakes to malfunction.

^^^ thats what i thought too since the brakes are hydraulic systems, but then obviously the avionics that control the brakes is part of the electrical system....meh

Pilot error is what accident investigators fall back on when the evidence they want to find is either too burned up or just plain (haha) not there. It's like the chick that you've drunk-dialed 42 times and gotten laid each time...saying "pilot error" creates satisfaction when nothing else is available.

What I would be betting on in this case is that a downburst from a nearby T-storm or even a TCU sitting on the top of the airport caused a tail wind at a bad time. The plane was likely already on the runway and just below rotation speed. If it got hit with a tail wind at that time, there would be no hope of a go-around.. and trying to just go to full power would have likely ended in a stall just as the plane came out of ground effect as he tried to clear the end of the runway = much more significant of a crash. The guy probably made a good decision at the last minute which saved lives.
On the other hand, the entire accident could have been avoided with some better info re: runway conditions and proximity of the TCU's around the airport. You have to remember that there were other planes lined up to land right after this one.. it was not some guy trying to pull a hail mary and just get home for some beer.
