Court date coming up! 2 questions! PLZ read!

Sup guys,

Well, my court date is coming up. I'm dead

My only chance to beat this ticket is if the cop doesn't show up. So what I was planning on doing was this: if he is there, have my legal rep. say I couldn't make it as a result of being sick or else having a test at school and postpone the court date. And if he doens't show up, then say I have evidence to prove that I am innocent and have them drop the case as a result of the cops absenteeism. I plan to do this as many times as I can, with the hope that the officer doesn't show up one of those times so I can plead innocence. A couple questions:

A) if my representative uses the excuse that I was sick or had a test, will I need to provide proof? If so, when? My second trial date?

B) how many times may I postpone a court date?

I pretty much lose my insurance next year if this ticket goes through (well, I lose it cause the premium will be through the roof) Thanks SO much for any help guys!

You can postpone it 3 times but im not sure of the answer for the first question. You gotta be careful about going to the court room and checkin if the cop shows up. When I went to a court trail last summer, some guy did the same thing but he went with a friend instead of a legal rep. The guy left the court room when he saw that the cop showed up and his friend told the judge that he couldnt make it. The cop actually recognized the offender as he was leaving the court room and told the judge that he just left. In the end, the guy was convicted of the ticket cuz he didnt come back in

thanks for the responses guys, so I can just say I haven't found legal council as yet? They won't say something like "you had adequate time to find one etc." will they?

oh and how do you tell if 'your' cop is there. Like, if he's not there I wouldn't mention the lack of legal council thing, but would plead innocent.

glimbse at each officer.... at their badge number on their shoulder....
check your list to see whaty our officer's badge number is.

and, no you would not need proof... like the other guy said... just say "you would like to request more time to seek legal advice" if for some reason they asked you why you havent yet.. just say that you've been busy with school and you were just writing midterms for your summer term.... but more then likely.. they wont ask you that...

of say.. ask for that IF the officer shows up
