Rep Power: 0 RCMP Raid in Pacific Mall today
I was at Pacific Mall today with the girlfriend at about 6 PM today... I was walking down one of the hallways and saw some yellow tape...
I thought there was just a water flood or something there.. but it was actually a POLICE LINE.. DO NOT CROSS tape...
It was the RCMP seizing all the products in the two (2) Sound and Image stores (across the hall from each other). There were like 4 RCMP officers in each going through boxes and seizing DVDs and CDs.
My guess is that they were seizing bootleg materials...?
Very likely.

Rep Power: 0 I don't think this fine would be small...
Besides.. I would imagine the fine would be reserved for if you had 10 DVDs... but imagine having 100 000 DVDs and CDs instead? I don't think that's a fine.. I think that's more Jail Time. lol OR A HUGE FINE

Rep Power: 255 yea...thats my tax dollars hard at work
im so glad a whole team of RCMP officers was needed...of course there is a heroin epidemic right in front of their faces on major streets of vancouver...people shooting up and selling heroin right on the ****** street, right out in the open...but the RCMP need a whole team to seize some "illegal dvd's" what a joke.

dude, illegal dvds are a serious problem... dvd junkies start to share them and can unknowingly spread around bad copies of screeners with banners across the top and bottom
dealers can use the profit from these illicit dvds to finance the purchase of evil computer equipment, used for the production of even MORE low quality copies
and lets not forget the entire industry that these sales support: extremely dangerous people going into movie theatres with recording equipment... do you know how many children die every year from being accidentally hit in the head with camcorders in dark theatres?!?
so before you say bootleg dvds arent a problem... wont somebody please think of the children???!

Rep Power: 0 It was only a matter of time. Only two stores, what about the 50 other stores that sell bootleg games, dvds, software and copywrited material?
I wonder what the punishment is for getting caught? I know during the HU days, RCMP would raid HU and DirectTV shops and slap the owners with 100,000+ dollar fines.

Rep Power: 0 gah, oh well, theres a bunch image and sounds, and video game stores other than pmall. but i guess, having everyone hear the news, i wonder if they'll just shut down as well. its a pretty good scare tactic.

Rep Power: 277 looks like they won't be selling anymore english dvds 'over the counter' anymore...i think the problem became more serious once they started getting DVD quality copies of movies that haven't even come out in theatres yet.
