Friends of friends were dropping by and it seemed as though these 2 guys were working on everyones cars but there own. They started to charge a small fee. Nothing big but come on when lowering a car cost around $400 to get done in a garage atleast you can do is buy a case of beer or buy the guys dinner. When ever they would work on my car I would buy beer and them lunch and dinner. These 2 guys are my BF and my bestfriend. They don't demand to be paid it is just a nice thing to do. This summer they are doing about 3 engine swaps, one for a fellow member. A job that will take awhile and they are going to get paid for it. IMO if someone is saving you a couple of hundred at least you can do is lay out a $100 and buy them something to eat and drink. I understand your statement but come on how would you feel if you were the go to guy and had everyone comming to you ALL the time. You kinda feel like your being taken advantage of. They saved people alot of money. You look at it as them just helping you. Take a look at everyone else they help out. Sorry if you don't agree and think you should get everything for free just cause the guys are your friends but I just think its a nice thing to do since they are saving me some money anyways.

In response to your comment "Tofast4me"...........
I think you are misunderstanding what i said..... The point i was trying to make is that if we refine our team...... to include only the serious and deticated members.... then we can begin to get to know each other and help one another out. NOW if you read carefully what i said above.... i clearly mentioned how when somone contributes there services for FREE, it should be your obligation to attempt to repay the favour if you are capable of doing so.. (that may vary from buying somone dinner, some beer, or even giving a helping hand on a future project). My main concern is that this "TEAM" has lost its focus.... and this forum has turned into a FS Post... where members come online in hopes to make money...
And finally with reguards to your last comment:
" how would you feel if you were the go to guy and had everyone comming to you ALL the time. You kinda feel like your being taken advantage of"
I am not talking out of my *** here... i am talking from experience.... i have bought a **** load of car audio/acc for members and friends, and i have attempted to be as fair as possible... i personally find it immoral to rip somone off..... ESPECIALLY a member of a so called "team".... i dont know... you can call me naive,,, but i believe that whatever good you do for others, one day it may return...... I guess not everyone agrees with me, but just imagine what the "Gen7" team would look like 1 year from now if all the TRUE members were to meet up once a month and attempt DIY projects....

i think its great that you voluteer your services...with the mods that i have done i havent charged a cent either...but im selective with who i help out...i have made friends from the team, so i get what you're saying, if the team is full of friends then we can all help eachother out for free.
but lets say you help me out and i have nothing you want (you dont drink, or need parts)...and i cant help you do anything...the most helpful thing for you is money (say you have rent to pay, or kids to feed). this team is not a marketplace, each person should be free to help, or contract their services to whom ever they wish.
i can help you for free or charge you - thats up to me
you can help me in return, pay me, or find someone else to help you - thats up to you
i think you're talking ideally, we're all friends and we dont even think about who owes who what....but that isnt something you can enforce through the structure of the team....you're talking about a commune....

na man... i am not talking about giving somone a free body kit... i am talking about helping out team members when its resonable to do so.... where the cost isnt to much to either the buyer or the seller..... all i am saying is that if we have a refined team of people who are deticated and know one another... then it would be resonable to assume that we can all help each other out with projects... free of charge for our services... not parts/supplies.... i am talking about labor bere....
For example, you tought me how to paint my dash, in return i helpd you install your neons, and from that experience, i have helped somone else paint there dash.... i am just talking about a cycle where members can help one another out without asking for something in return.....
Also this isnt something that i am trying to "IMPOSE" on team members... your right, its up to each individual to choose to help somone else......... HOWEVER all i am saying is that if we refine the team and get to know all the members by face and name, then maybe the members will voluntarily decide to help one another out...

i actually did read your post... and once again man i dont know why you are taking this personally.... i appreaciate what you are saying.... and those "2 guys" you keep talking about... well more power to them, i commend them for what they are doing. Now what i am saying is that "buying them dinner"..... should be a given, or in other words, re-paying the favor in anyway you can... maybe by helping them out sometime or whatever the situation maybe....
Furthermore, all i am saying is that it would be nice to see a "team" composed of friends as apposed to a team made up of "members".
