I posted this thread in the Ottawa section as well, but I thought I'd post it in the Can East section to get more feedback!
Alright as many of you know already I'm in the hunt for an exhaust for the car. This will be the main project for this season. I'm still fairly new to the whole modding scene, so any help will be appreciated.
I have a DX, and am looking for something with a nice low sound to it ... nothing that sounds high pitch or like a loud fart can. I most likely will want to do my headers eventually but believe that the funds will not be there this summer to do that.
I was leaning towards a full cat-back. this would most likely have to be special for the DX model. If I go this route, will there be any options to get headers in the future?
Would you all reccomend I just get an over the axel exhaust? what would be the benefits of each? What would be the drawbacks?
I know the option to get the headers, midpipe, downpipe, highflow cat is there for my car, but the money to do this would be a little much I think. (funny how thats the route I wanted to go at the beginning, and may still be the route i want to take) This all depends on what kind of feedback I get on this thread.
So again, those are my options, any and all help will be GREATLY appreciated, if any of you know how much I'd be looking at for each option that would be a great help as well.
Thanks again, and hope to see all of you again this summer!!!

Well i dont know too much about all the different exhausts. But if you get a magnaflow they work with both the DX/LX and the Si because they come with an extension peice for the LX/DX. Then you can get headers for an Si (down the road) and still use your magnaflow exhaust by taking out the extension pipe.
I think the magnaflow sounds pretty good. I have it but I never hear it from outside the car.

yeah I was thinking about that today. I might just do the DX/LX cat-back, then this way I could add on the headers later on.
thanks for the input Jer

No I don't want to just go for sounds, I would like a straighter bigger pipe all the way from the cat-back. I want to have whatever "go" there is for the "show"
In PASMAG they installed a vibrant exhaust on MAzda 3 and they liked it. Said it sounded good and gave decent gains. I doubt you'll get gains from a civic, but at least its another source of info.
Depending on where you live and what shop you go too and what you want you could be looking anywhere from 300-1400 bucks depending on exactually what u want.i got mine done in st.catherines by alloy options for 400 from the header back however i sent a lot of other guys his way and it ran them around 600.....so u decided just make sure its stainless not the fake **** or itll rust out quick

Thanks ADS, I think I'll be going for the magnaflo catback. (a shop in Ottawa quoted me under 700) I think thats a pretty good price.
Jer, you told me that it sounds good right. unfortunately you can't hear what they sound like until you have them on your ride

Hey Erik,
The Magnaflow catback is what I have on my LX and I like it a lot. Nice Deep Sound but not high pitch or fart can like. Its a nice exhaust that wont draw much attention and its not too loud and annoying while your driving.
