hey guys, well yesterday, I installed my magnaflow cat back onto my car (i did it myself with a friend)... so anyways, here is the problem i am having now, 1) the tip is tooo close to the rear bumper, i dont think there is enough clearance, its problly 1cm or less... i have tried everything to get it to hang a bit lower but everything i tried didnt work... if you guys who have installed them too, or anyone who knows about exhausts knows how i can fix this PLS HELP ME!!!
my second problem is that when i drive for about 5-10 min, and i stop and get out, or even while im driving, i notice this foul smell.. im not sure if its that sprayed on insulater from the box (the yellow ****) inside the pipe that is just burning off or if it is actually my bumper burning up! im really worried about this! or it could be something else...
pls help... desperate 7thgener here
thanks guys
nick

1) Go to a muffler shop and buy longer rubber hangers. however much lower you want your muffler to hang, buy that much longer hangers.
2) The exhaust will have a bit stronger odour at first while all the junk inside gets settled down. Shouldnt last longer than 10-20 minutes worth of driving. If its still stinking, it might be that you have an exhaust leak somewhere in your setup. Do you have your catalytic converter in still?
Get the longer hangers and increase the gap between your bumper to eliminate that from the possibilities of "whats wrong". also check to make sure its a snug fit throughout. If you have your catalytic converter out and/or have an aftermarket header, make sure its all fitting properly so that their aint no leaks. PM me if i can help.

do you know how long the stock rubber hangers are? cause right now it has about 1cm of clearence and i would like about 1/2" - 1"
also, its the 2nd day of me actually driving, it still kind of smells... somewhat of burning plastic, thats the only way for me to describe it... i will check the pipes when i get home from work for an exhaust leak.. have any of you guys experienced any smell like that when u installed you exhausts? in particular a magnaflow?
thanks again everyone for all your help

take a look for yourself to be sure, cause i'm not near my car at the moment. But if i had to guess i'd say they're 3"s long. but thats a rough guess..crawl under your car and feel for yourself. Goodluck man.
how did you guys get the final bolts off? the ones i couldnt get off were the last ones before the magnaflow comes on
so i think that means the stock cat, maybe not but whatever it was, couldnt get it off for a joke. three bolts, tight as ANYTHING
if anyone has a tip of two lemme know. im doing it with my friend so no take it to a shop suggestions. just tips to make it an easier manual unbolt
thx

seriously dude all i did was just use raw man power, they are tight as hell it took me almost 1 1/2 hours to get them off... and while ur at it go to a honda dealership and get 3 new ones from them, its like 2 bucks but trust me, they new ones will go on easier, and much better
shoot, raw power eh
well im gonna call up one of my bouys who has some more raw power than me and sohaiel (the other guy who organized the magnaflow GB). i may be able to go to my old high school and use their shop
3 new ones, as in bolts? explain what exactly you mean to get. the screw and the bolt or what? holla back, thanks for the advice! greatly appreciated

yea, the 3 nuts that connect the resonator pipe to the cat... you dont need screws, just the bolts cause the screws stay onto the cat. its well worth the $2. oh, and when you are disconnecting the muffler from the resonator pipe (the connection near the rear tire), if you break the spring bolts cause they are a bitch to get off too dont worry bout it, cause you dont need them to mount the new exhaust unlike what it says in the instructions. And if you can go to an exhaust shop and get 3 new exhaust clamps cause the one that comes with the kit arent that strong.
cool thanks a lot man, ill go get all these things, i tried a muffler shop today for some longer hangers and they were such a$$holes.
they sell the exact same magnaflow for $700 installed, 600 for just the catback, and did NOT like the fact we bought ours elsewhere
so as a result, they wouldnt sell us anything, or even answer our questions without some cocky remarks. we asked how they did it, and they were like we read the instructions and used what they supplied. so im gonna look for a real shop and get these things, as well as go to honda and get the bolts
thanks again yo
