si coupe turbochager? is it worth it?
I have been contemplating putting in a turbo charger system into my car..now other than the extreme cost involved to purchase a kit and installation, is it really worth it? my engine is completly stock minus the exception of an AEM intake... im more interested in finding out wear on your engine, other parts that your gonna need that arent normally included in a kit and finally where are some good shops in the GTA to get this installed if i do decide to go ahead with it... just post your thoughts...
I think it is soooo worth it to turbo charge ur car, its like a dream for me but only i dun have the cash.... but for now the stock engine is good because u need to kno how to control the car first and to use ur engine to the limit b4 addin more power.... if u just use it to show off...then it won't be worth ur money

you'll have to understand that whether you leave your car stock or not there will always be wear and tear.... its just mods will ofter speed up the process....
as far as turbo charging your car ... find out the total cost of all Materials and labour and what the gain in Whp will be... then ask yourself..
"is it worth it?"
some say yes... but at the end.. you'll pull up to an STI or even JUST a type S and still get smoked... REMEMBER...that you lost with a $?000.00 amount on turbo...
it all comes down to that....
Good luck!!

haha.. yea viclx is right.... but when u lose to the Sti. u would only lose about 2 car length compared to when u were stock and would have lost by 10 car length. its pretty much worthless..

hahahahahahahaha.....
Invest on bolt ons and if your craving for more power.. do internals ...and if your still craving.. go nitrous ( which I must say is very worth it ) and if your still craving for speed... forget it... spend your money on SUSPENSION, SUSPENSION, SUSPENSION and more SUSPENSION... and kill mustangs in circuit....And learning to take your racing line is good too!
The Slipstream R track SiR (N/A) whoops stangs at shannonville
like my sig says.. " Why do a 1/4 when you can do the whole circuit!!!"

Bolt-ons on a D17 are not worth it... Try pushing 237whp and 223 Lbf or torque with bolt ons. You simply cant! Just to let you guys in, very... and I mean VERY few type S's can touch my car... STI's may be another thing...
Turbo is the way to go if you want to go quick. No if ands or buts!

237 Whp is with a lot of boost......for a 1 time race....but leave it on 9 PSI and think of what it'll do to your engine in the long run....KABOOOOMM
your not always going to have 237 on command...so eventually you'll end up seeing a back end of a TYPE S
you can always set to lower boost but everrytime you crank up the PSI you'll always have thoughts of KABOOM...
not deterring you from getting a turbo... but bottom lime is with a SOCH D17 1.7 Ltr the pressure and $$$ from a turbo will have to be pretty high just to hit 200 WHP and thats the part thats not worth it...

It all depends on tunning... What makes a motor blow is POOR tunning, often overlooked by most people doing turbo kits. Also knowing your limits also helps alot. I ran 11 psi daily for 11 months (29 xxx km's), with no problems. I even had it spike at 21.7 psi on the dyno and the motor held up. There will always be a faster RSX or faster neon but a 13.2 out of a stock motor aint that bad, especially with street tires. A Turbo does not blow motors, people blow motors...
i say with the money spent on turbo.. might as well add a couple more of $$$ and get the engine swap....
u'll put out almost the same result as a stock turbo to a stock rsx engine swapped...
plus with the swap.. in the future u can still turbo that **** and even run faster... in d17 turbo.. the limit is set after turbo...

yea that was one thing that I was thinking of... my main concern was that the stock si engine is rated at 127 hp... put a turbo on, and sure you'll have some decent HP gains... but still get smoked by a lot of cars on the road...i was thinkin that maybe it would be smarter to go with an engine swap and then turbo it later on down the road...
but on the suspension issue vic, i really wanna do some suspension upgrades on my car... first things first, im gonna lower it, now do i just need to get springs, or am i gonna be looking at springs + coilovers? what would you say would be the best set up?

Dont bother with lowering springs and shocks...
save the money for a Coilover kit (tiens SS or ven BASIC) hieght adjustable and Damper Control fro the SS...
Spring- are just springs - ie: H&R
Sleeves - are just the adjustable hieght sleves - ie: Skunk2
coilovers- is the complete set including Adjustable hieght and importantly SHOCKS - tien SS or basic
Some Suspension facts
MORE Suspension FACTS...
if you really think about it 300 for springs and 900 for your shocks (inserts only too) might as well spend it on $1500 woth adjustable Hieght and Damper controll
when you do set it up that the rear is harder due to FWD's tend to have understeer...
and also get sway bars to have better turning capabilities and tie bars to stiffen up the chasis...
good luck

Some of you need to hang in the "Forced Induction" forum more often. There are plenty of people in there that are running 6+ psi as a daily driver and have no problems. The biggest problem people are incountering is missing pieces from their kit when it arrives. Bolt-ons are not the way to for more power. Touge_Motors is right, proper toning is necessary!!!

worse sounds than springs!???
is that tru with teins SS... i wanna have an amzing drop and handling but still keep a decent oem type of feeling in shocks... not crazy *** sounds that seems like the car will fall apart....
so if u have a job coil system pls sure ur info LOL... im looking towards teins SS this summer...

I was wondering, what did Touge_Motors pay for his turbo kit, including tax and installation?
