auto insurance?

auto insurance?
who do you guys deal with that have good rates and arent being bitches about modding your car?
my renewl came and it jumped from 275 to 485 per month (for no reason). i am obviously looking for a better rate but every place i seem to call says, they wont insure your vehicle if it has ANY engine mods, or lowering of it. some places even say u cant have anyhting aftermarket at all. wtf?
someone hit me a few weeks back and i now have a great opportunity to get a kit but i am not going to if i cant lower it. what i want to do to get around that is to get coilovers so i can adjust the height if need be for the insurance.
so far my '03 has a stereo. but i dont want to do any modding if i cant find or afford insurance.
