futureshop got some good priced ones..
assuming you are lucky to get some good deals in the right time..
ie. i got one of my digi-cam (FUJIFILM finepix) back then for $399..
it gave out 10% discount along with accessaries like battery chargers, 64MB memory card and computer software..
anyways..
if you are considering brand names..
the usual brands like kodak, canon and fujifilm are good enuf..
i don't like the sony ones (in my pov, their prices are too much)..
but it depends on how are you gonna use your digi-cam..
u gonna use it like a pro (with many functions) or just want some family moments in general?
cuz the specs of those digi-cams vary as u should know and so will their prices..
another place to get your d-camera..
i suggest you pay a visit to Henry's..
they got tons of cameras there..
ask those ppl there..
it seems like they got at least some good infos to fit your needs..
i just got a film camera (NIKON FM3A) there for snaping night-scene photos purpose..
like for Henry's online:

Not sure what your budget is, but I have the Sony P72 and am more than happy with it. Its very easy to use, has long battery life (2 rechargable batteries incl.), and takes great pics. I have seen it going for under $400 lately.

ebay's a great place for deals. I ordered a canon G5 on ebay for 880shipped Canadian. They sell this camera for 999plus tax canadian. Depends what your going to use the camera for. I say you should get a minimum of 3 megapixals.
