Rep Power: 389 sorry im dumb!! Here's the specs
Engine options by year:
1973-74: 1170cc Motor
1973-79: 1237cc Motor replaces the 1170cc unit, beginning the 1200 series of Civics.
1975-79: The 1500 Series (CVCC), a 1490cc (1488cc?) engine, is produced as a way around stricter emissions regulations.
1976-79: The 1500 Series (CVCC) engine is revised internally, producing better power and running better.
The 1200 series of Civics always produced more power and ran better than the CVCC's...
The 5 Speed was only availble as an option on the 1500 CVCC. Honda didnt think the 1200 could pull the gear ratio properly.
The CVCC's were 3" longer in the nose than the 1200, to accomodate the wider all-alloy motor.
First generation Civics did not a trim level specification, but were differentiated by their motor types.
Type
4 cylinder, water cooled
aluminum alloy - block and head
5 main bearings
Valvetrain
belt-driven SOHC
2 valve/cyl.
Displacement
1169cc (1973)
1237cc (1974)
Bore x Stroke
70 X 76 mm (2.76 X 2.99 in.) (1973)
72 X 76 mm (2.83 X 2.99 in.) (1974)
Compression Ratio
7.9:1
Horsepower (SAE)
50 (1169cc)
52 (1237cc)
Average price paid: $2150 sedan, $2250 hatchback
I guess we are getting off topic but that thing is a beast!!
