Moving to DC-what's there?

Sup guys. I'm more than likely moving out to DC here in the next few months and was wondering if there are any local forums or anything for events, etc. I want to be ahead of the trip so I can meet some cool peeps and have something to do when I get there.

Re: Moving to DC-what's there?

oh no ****?!!?!
Everything goes on here.... actually I'm totally kidding... every couple months we go play video games, thats about it. I'm sure there's other stuff, but I dont know about it. They shut down the MegaMeets.
I'm not up on the whole "car scene" or whatever you want to call it, but I'm sure **** goes on. Depends what you want to do. There's MIR not too far from here, Summit Point and VIR are within a couple hours and you should have no problem finding ricers to mess with.
There's lots of tourists.

Oh, and start thinking about what isnt legal on your car, and try and make it legal... passing inspection is fun.

Whats dragging you out here?

I'm sure the maryland people are gonna say live in Md, and the Va people are gonna say live in Va, but its pretty unanimous, DON'T live in the District. Taxes are nuts, so is car insurance, you'll hemorage more money than you can make, and prepare yourself for some serious sticker shock, inside the beltway, your monthly rent will be 4 digits for a one bedroom, if it isnt, you probably dont want to live there. Lemme know if you need anything.... I did the move almost 2 years ago, I know most of the tricks and what not now, and have friends from school that live in most of the neighborhoods... I probably can get you the low down on wherever.

Re: Moving to DC-what's there?

Well, its a military move so I don't have to worry about rent or any of the other bs like taxes, etc. I'll also not have to worry about inspections or anything like that. Yeah, I'd like to see what's up with the car scene. I've been very seriously thinking about putting my car to stock, selling it and getting an rsx, something with some reliability to it. I'm tired of replacing parts, etc. Too damned expensive on top of a car payment. The move date is looking to be around beginning of June but we'll see when I get orders in hand. PM me your number so I can ask you about the area and whatnot. I've already talked to robb a little bit.

Re: Moving to DC-what's there?

yay the andy man is moving to DC! chicas arent too bad here there is definitely a vast bit of hot looking girls around.

havent been to many meets lately besides ours. hopefully we will setup one sometime in the next couple months after schools over. i usually went to a meet in manasas but not sure if that still is goin on. im sure if u look around youll find your good car crowd and your not so good crowd. if u were to get an rsx there is always a meet going on every month up in MD.

there is also a bunch of things not to look foward to moving the DC/MD/NOVA area...such as traffic. traffic is horrible around here especially on i-95. then u got the terrible drivers which will **** you off no matter wat. then u got all the info that boiler mentioned.

thats pretty much the low down. if u do come welcome to the M-A area and hopefully u enjoy it and come to our meets, which is always a blast.

Re: Moving to DC-what's there?

Only thing I'm not looking forward to is cold weather. I was originally going to go to san antonio, which I was really stoked about, then today I got an email saying, whoops, sorry, you have to go to walter reed. I said, fugit, whatever. Money's good no matter what. Send me wherever. Besides, I've been all over texas, I'd like to see a little bit of the north, especially the DC area. Traffic may suck, but I don't care, lol, I'll be living on base, I'm sure.

Hey if you move to MD, you can get your car tuned by AMS and make even more HP lol. Would be cool to meet you though. I'm in NJ but I'm always down in the DC metro area.

Yeah man, I'm always down to chill. I'd like to get out and see what's out there. I think I'll be getting any tuning done by Jeff Evans in E Pennsylvania, he's nuts when it comes to tuning Hondas, got a really good rep.

So that means we can "borrow" your car while you are deployed? I can get on Walter Reed, so if you need someone to start it up and stuff, let me know

Yeah, Jeff's shop is on the Penn coast. No, Robb, you aren't driving my car! I'll let you go for a ride though
I'm not being deployed, I work in the legal field, so I'll be assisting our attornies out there with medical boards and whatnot. Not sure exactly what I'll be doing but it should be a M-F, 9-5 gig so it should be pretty cool.

But yeah Robb, that's sweet if you can get on, I need a workout partner.

well you can get on NNMC then and work out where I am...lol, think you're all special and deserve for us to come to you j/k... I don't even know if Walter Reed has a good gym or not, but I know parking is worse at Walter Reed compared to NNMC.

Re: Moving to DC-what's there?

im surprised no one answered your chicas question. we have a good variety, but after being in miami for a weekend, i feel like the majority of the women around here are kinda boring. lol. I dunno if you do anything after work hours, but youll find a ton of clubs in DC with some girls that hit a solid 10 on the richter scale.
