Finally! It's about time they did something. I don't even talk on the phone at all. I'm not that stupid, but other people that drive worse than me think they can do more than one thing at a time.
werd, it was passed in towns back in jersey before i left..and it was passed here in SA...maybe all of texas..i dunno! anyway..its good..cause people here are driving w/ the phone puttin' on makeup and change a cd all while change lanes and shifting gears. fuuuuuuuu*in shizzzzzzzz

Hahaha thats funny. Even though its illegal in MD the cops don't do anything about it. I saw a cop pass a woman on the phone looked directly at her and just passed her. I wish they would do more about it.

Also, Virginia now has the strictest DUI laws in the country again. So all you 21+ peoples better watch out and find a DD if you're gonna have a good time.
just so you guys know in NJ it has to be a secondary offence meaning they cant pull you over for being on the cell phone only, there has to be a primary offence such as an illegal left turn while your cell then your a$$ will be hit with 2 tickets

Anybody know if they plan on doing this in Texas anytime soon??
I know everyone thought there was a similar law passed in texas a few months back, but that turned out to be a hoax.

Actually, driving in Maryland while on the cell phone is not illegal in Maryland- yet. That's about to change, because a few months back a woman on a cell phone lost control of her van and slammed into a car, killing 5 people (but she was Ok). The reason it hasn't been made illegal here yet is because Verizon Wireless fights any legislation tooth and nail, saying it's no worse than listening to your radio. HUMBUG! And before anyone starts flaming me saying "It is illegal in Maryland", I tell thee it's not- I work as an admin for Baltimore County 5-0.
The other day I saw a woman eating a cup of noodles on the way to work, steering with her knees. IQ tests need to be part of renewing your license.

What about nextel's walkie talkie feature? is it considered being on the phone if your using the phone with ptt? i mean this could be challengable in court, i wasn't talking on the phone i was just holding it to look at the time because my clock is broken.
