**NYC HELP** Central Park Carriage Rides and Places to stay in the City
Wussup guys........
I'm from Miami.... and i have only been to NY once, and that was to the Twin Towers, to the Statue of Liberty, past Central Park....and styed in a hotel above a fire station, so the sirens were on 24/7.
Well...... i was planning a trip... to go with my girl...cause she wants to go on a carraige ride..... but she dosnt know that its gonna be in NYC.... hehehe
We have been going out for over 2 years.... and on NOV 3, when we go, it will be 3 years....
so....
1. What is the Best Carraige Ride to take through Central Park? COST?
2. Where can i stay in NYC, kinda around Central Park, in Manhattan, so we can go to the World Trade Center Area, and go the Statue of Liberty... etc...
((( so stay??? but a nice place to stay...and not that expensive)
The airfare is gonna cost me roughly $230 each.... thats not a problem....
Any help would be appreciated....
thanks guys... and is NYC ***COLD*** in Novermber 3 around there??? SNOW??? what to wear???
remember we're from Miami...so
OHHHHHH.... and a nice place to eat at!
Thanks
-Kevin

Hey Kevin,
I can't really help with hotel locations or anything like that. I suppose you can look on sites like travelocity.com, hotels.com, and the like.
As for the weather? I'd say you guys would be alright with pants and a long sleeve shirt -- with a small jacket near-by. I highly doubt we'll get snow in November, so it's not that cold.
For #2, Central Park and Ground Zero is a hefty walk. I suggest you try and learn the bus routes -- taxis will charge you a shitload. Obviously if you stay in, or around, Times Square, you'll be somewhat in the smack middle of Central Park and Ground Zero.
Sorry I couldn't help you with anything specific. I'm from Jersey and just go there from time to time to hang out.

well, carriage rides are like taxis, i dont know what the cost is, but they go where you ask them to go. theres no set routes or anything. id stick with a day ride instead of a night ride if youre going through central park.
as far as hotel goes, that depends on how much you want to spend. BTW, central park area is not really near the WTC or the statue of liberty, so youll have to catch a cab or a subway to get there (obviously a ferry to the statue)...oh, and the statue is in NJ not in NY. just thought id clear that up.
if you want to make this special, there are PLENTY of classy hotels in the central park area. if i were you id look into a bed and breakfast. theres a great one on 23rd street (http://www.innon23rd.com/)...but thats not near central park, its near the village.
http://www.visitnyc.org/ has a decent listing of hotles and areas. do you want to watch the sunset or sunrise over the park? you want to be on the west or east side? closer to midtown or uptown? central park is pretty big, so decide where you want to be located.
i would get on the reservations ASAP tho, people take vacations around thanksgiving in november, so things tend to book up.
it can be pretty chilly in november. could be warm though. depends on the year. usually no snow though, but bring a warm jacket and some sweaters and pants. def. no shorts or sandals.
places to eat...thats a good one. union square has great places. the village has great places. id stay clear of times square cause thats a tourist place and prices are jacked up...but midtown has some good places also.
do a yahoo search for nyc restaurants and see what pops up.
i like the palm on 44th and 2nd, it has great steak and 4+ pound lobsters.
blue water grill in union square has great seafood.
republic is a great place in union square also. its cheap and food is good. kind of like a noodle shop, but more trendy. you will not leave hungry.
grey's papaya on 6th ave and 9th st. - a MUST. this is a hot dog joint, but its the best hot dogs ever!
cafe spice near union square is a great indian restaurant!
spice is a great thai restaurant.
lemondgrass is also a great thai restaurant.
lots of great cafes in greenwich village, on bleeker street madougal.
babbo in the village has great italian.
there are honestly TONS of places to eat.
edit:
you can take the subway to/from laguardia, and i think JFK, but ill be honest, its a LOOOOOOOOONG train ride. ive done it and its not fun. it takes like an hour at least. so if you have heavy bags its a pain in the ***. just rent a limo/taxi. although there is a shuttle also that goes from the airports to manhattan. (http://www.panynj.gov/aviation/jgtsfram.htm this has all the info you need....link for laguardia is on the left (LGA). id stay away from the subway.
dont stay at a hotel in times square. you will get ripped off. the prices there are jacked! stay in midtown if you want to be close to everything, but that wont be overlooking the park.

Or beside from what everybody had said, get your butt in the city and explore!!!
That's the joy of going to New York City, you'd never know what to expect. I've been living here the past 4 years (from Florida also, Jax) and I still haven't seen or experienced everything NYC has to offer.
Your hotel will give you a city guide which you can use to move you around the city. And don't forget to ask for a subway map which can be had for free at any subway stop.

yea, nov 3, it'll be pretty cold up here, bring a sweater or something. you can find carriage rides all over central park, and some even ride thru times square. But, when I think of it, I dont recall seeing any carriages during the fall/winter time, since it gets too cold. Either way, you can have a blast here at nyc. For food, i recommend, "La Caridad" which is on 77th and broadway I believe. Another place to try is "Grays Papaya" 6th ave 8th st in the village, best hot dogs in the city. If yall wanna experience a NYC club, I suggest webster hall, roxy, world, copacabana, 40/40, china club, and latin quarters if you like spanish music. I'll be updating this with more, but this is all I can think of for now, lol.
