Anyone go to Carnegie Mellon?

hey there, mid-atlantic people...

well, i just decided i'm gonna go to carnegie mellon next year, so i'm pretty excited about that. i visited the campus over the summer, but i still don't know ANYTHING about pittsburgh. so i thought i might as well ask, if anyone here is a student there--or even just lives in pittsburgh--how do you like it? the school, the city, whatever? to tell the truth, i'm sick of california; i never liked it here since i first moved to san diego, so anything will be a move up for me.

well, i still haven't decided if i want to take my civic with me, so who knows, a year from now i might be going to your meets . oh yeah, that reminds me....does it snow there? so if it does, i guess the salt will eventually ruin your cars, eh?

thanks for the help, guys. see you next year

I live in Pittsburgh. I've lived here most of my life and i still love it!! There's lots to do, especially if you're over 21. CMU is a really nice school, I know a few people who go there and they really like it. And yes, like slicksivik said, it snows and rains a lot...so be prepared!

be prepared for a sausage fest! There is a colony there from the fraternity I am in and they always tell us how there are no girls there. I don't know if they are exaggerating but it's like 5 to 1 ratio. So the girls who are a little above than average, are considered hot there.

hehe. well, it's not anywhere near as bad as "5 to 1." actually it's even less than 2 to 1 (something like 62% vs 38%). but anyway, that's not something that would bother me too much; after all, i guess i'm the "engineer type" anyway .

thanks for the replies, guys (and girl). looks like i'll be your neighbor next year
