Plead your case: WRX/350Z
The WRX and the 350 are basically neck a neck performance wise only being seperated by a tenth or tenths of a second. They both do around 5.4 0-60 and I believe the WRX has a faster 1/4 mile time by like 2 tenths of a second (14.1 vs. 14.3)
My point here is that the base models are close in price
Base 2004 WRX: $25,568
Base 2004 350Z: $26,989
The real comparison come in when you look at the premium models of both cars
Premium 2004 WRX: $27,068
Track Edition 2004 350Z: $34,720 (This is how you are really going to want the car, with the Brembo brakes and the limited slip. Those aren't in the base models)
Thats a substantial $ difference for two cars that have similar performance specs.
Things you also have to consider is that the WRX is a more functional car. It is a 4-door. On the other hand the 350Z is easier on the eyes and is more sleek and sporty looking. The WRX is AWD and Turbocharged as we all know and the Z is RWD.
Which would you rather have???
When everything is taken into consideration, I think its a tough choice considering you can get the Rex for much cheaper with all it available features.

are you comparing a regular WRX or the WRX STi? i would in any case take the WRX STi. i think it goes for around $35k. i would take it bcuz its more function with my needs, such as 4-doors where as i have a child, and AWD where as i live in chicago where it snows in the winter... i think the 350Z is pointed more towards the older crowd. i would love to have either cars but more of the STi..

i dont know.
tough choice.

350z... gotta LOVE interior.
i beilve wrx's insurance is cheaper than 350z. look in to insurance issues too.

if I had the money...then the 350z. It's just such a good looking car. My practical side says wrx. But in the end..lets face it.. chicks dig the Z. Although if we can take the same cars in diffrent badging. I would get the infiniti g35 SC. sa-weeeeeeeeeeet. I want I want.

I am all for handling. so my mind tells me to go with the WRX. However IN the SCCA SOLO 2 Classification, the 350Z is currently classed in B-Stock (With the S2000) and the WRX is classed D-Stock. So according to the SCCA the 350Z should out perform the WRX (By 2 classes). the STi however is classed A-Stock, so it should be better then both(Obviously).
SO it comes down to looks and your type of driving.

wrx. AWD and great aftermarket support. plus its a sedan, so its more convenient and just works better for actual utility.
the base Z doesnt give you much to play with, and the top of the line costs too much for what you get IMO.

i think wrx's are ugly as hell. 350z all the way i would rather have the v6 to and i dont think the wrx has alot more mods for it. did i mention the wrx is ugly lol
Where do you get your facts and i would like to see them. I would like to see a WRX or mabey an Sti beat a 350z... And if it did i think it would be an STi with my grandma driving her Automatic Z.....
I would just take a TwinTurbo 300z and destroy them all...
Whats with these Subaru kitties anyways... And mitsubishi makes TVs... lol

where do you get your facts from that a 350z would be out a wrx-sti? just because the 350z may look cooler, does that make it faster?

SCCA SOLO 2 classification. different stock classes = different performance levels.
1.WRX is classes D-Stock (with the Integra Type R, RSX-S and the G35 Sedan)
2.350Z is classed B-Stock (Allong with the S2000, Auti TT (225h, Dual Intercoolers) and the E36 M3)
3.WRX STi is classed A-Stock (Allong with the EVO 8)
4. civic (all 7th gens excluding Si) are in H-Stock
what does this mean?
Simple, According to the SCCA, the WRX should be out performed by the 350Z. The 350Z should be out performed by the WRX Sti and the EVO 8.
Sure a 350Z may be able to our accelerate some of these cars, but so what? the SCCA classifies cars baised on their total performance. as in Acceleration and Handling, not just its 1/4 mile time. Besides, 1/4 mile times dont mean squat to a real sports car any way.
By the way, the 300ZX Turbo ('90+) is classed in B-Stock too, so the STi and the EVO 8 should still beat it.
Have a nice day
SCCA SOLO 2 Car Classification
350 Z, my future college graduation present (2008, no joke). Slap on a sweet body kit, turbocharge that bitch, and convert it to AWD, what do you get??? A car that could absolutely smoke the WRX STi and turn heads (in a good way, unlike the STi which looks f#cking ugly).

I was speaking of the regular wrx the whole time.
even though you could put the sti up against the track 350z as a comparison. The Z still costs more. And the sti will outperform it for cheaper

You said it! Who the hell wants to drive an ugly car?

Alright. why would turbo make the WRX better. it has a smaller, turbo'd engine, with less power. the only reason the WRX can even compare to the 350 in performance is the AWD so it gets it out of the hole. also. 350Z can run mid to high 13s stock. these are the real owners times, not the mag times. as for handling. have any of you ridden in a 350Z, it's super stiff. and it's RWD. a Stock WRX is still quite mushy. a modded one can probably handling like a 350Z, but not stock vs. stock.

nothing personal, and im not taking sides on this, but.... If you wanna get ***, get the Z. If you wanna kick ***, flip a coin. Both are sweet machines. But if I had my choice, I would much rather spend my money on a 350GTS (G35/Skyline AWD Sedan) when they are released this winter (if it happens). Living in Chicago is JUST NOT PRACTICAL for the 350Z at all during the winter! Anyone got a 98/99 Eclipse GSX for sale? Prefereably low miles and black, but color is secondary. Possible trade for the remainder of my loan and a few grand cash to line your pockets with?
