to switch or not to switch???/
OK I need some opinions-
I currently have an 02 civic ex coupe automatic (impulse purchase, they only had autos on the lot)
I have the opportunity to get an 01 ex coupe in inca pearl which is 5 speed w/ only 24K.
The dealer said he would swap everything from my car to the other no charge (pulleys, sway bar and exhaust) too. Plus the payment would be $60 less/month.
I am awaiting the arrival of my baby- SF turbo kit and w/ the 5 speed I would be safer w/ that tranny plus more power!!!!
I need some input on what you guys think I should do, it is a used car, I bought mine brand new so this is what is making me ? this.
HELP!!!!
Melissa

I suggest you switch... i mean he will switch everything, its less per month and u got 5 spd for your turbo!!! The only disadvantage is that its used but i mean u got a bonus everywhere else
if he switches all your stuff, and something goes wrong, he should be held liable.
You're getting a good deal. Manuals are supposed to be funner to drive, but only to the experience; and depending on what area you live in. Since it's still a relatively new car with only 24k on it, at least you know it's not a lemon; knock on wood.
I also bought in a rush instead of just waiting. I ended up with a DX, but if I had waited to save up for another half a year I could have afforded the only other 7th gen on the lot; one of the FP EX coupes. But I wanted to have the 1st 7th gen around. And so I did.

A big negative is that you are getting a car that is a year older than your current one.
Second, it is the first year of the 7th gens...
I don't know, trading an auto civic for a 5spd civic doesn't make much sense to me...to each his own.

i heard they kinda float on the highway

what do you mean by 'float'?
Sometimes it feels like the rear end feels like it's still going straight when I'm making a turn or switching lanes; sort of like i'm going into a drift LOL
I dunno how else to explain it. lol
go to the problem section
and search about it
when i tested the 2k1 version, it feels like it was floating
then honda changed the suspension so that it's tighter in 2k2...
i know that was one major complaint back in 2k1...

Hey what about the floating problem w/ my parts on it? (Eibachs, progress rear sway bar, lower profile tires) If it is a problem would these parts help it out?

If you dont know how to drive a manual, get someone who has some manual experience drive it for you. Run it through all the gears and listen/feel for problems.
If your going to swap parts, find out what kind of warranty he is giving on his work. If it was me I would see about getting an extended warranty also.. fwiw

I have never owned an auto before, all I have ever driven in a standard (4 cars that I have had). The trans is fine, no trouble getting into gears and no slipping.
The shop warranties all work for one year plus my friend is the manager of the shop there.
Thanks for the input, I am going tomorrow to go over everything and GET IN WRITING they are going to do the swap of the parts for no $.

i think its a great deal, so what if it has 24k miles on it, hondas can easily go 200k+ with proper maintenence. as you stated above, just get everything in writing so the dealer doesnt screw you outta anything.
Just do it!! try and see if u can get a warranty since he is gonna put the pulleys, etc. on ur car, he should be help liable for any problems that occur from installing those parts. you'll have a much better time with a m/t w/ turbo than with the a/t...
used actually ain't that bad. my car had a couple problems that were covered by the certified used car warrenty so they didn't have to get some warrenty inspection guy to check them out, they just did the work.
so i wouldn't let just being a used car stop me from getting it. i wish i could work out a deal like that.

I had alot of first year problems with my 01 civic 5 speed ex coupe...That is one of the reasons I got rid of it. Look around, you may be able to find an 02 civic for alot less money in a 5speed....I wouldnt trade for a 2k1....You are taking a gamble if the car will have first year problems and if it wont have first year problems.
