This poor guy gets screwed on a car purchase I just finished reading this on another car forum. The poor guy in this story is screwed over royally by some a$$hole selling an '89 BMW M3. It's a long story, but a good one. And something useful for anyone who buys used cars to know.

Rep Power: 0 What gets me is the guys seems smart enough and has money, I guess he fell in love with the car and "had to have it!". Hind site is 20/20 but this guy should have told that guy to screw breakfast and coffee and just go out to the garage and see the car. If I was treated that way and had $10,000 in cash on me, I would have walked to the nearest store and called a cab and went home.
I wonder how this story ended up? Did he get his money back? Did that guy in Florida go to jail? (tune in next week I guess)

Rep Power: 0 if the guy was smart enough to have not signed the title and to cover his tracks, then he prolly isn't gonna get caught (for a while at least). If the other guy was dumb enough to buy the car after seeing all the warning signs, then i say he deserves it. i dont pity stupid people.

he described it as a dream that was becoming ture, to be able to drive across all the states in his dream car and become a piece of memory he won't forget (futher down the threads)
obviously, it's true that his dream has hinder his logic and he deserved it. but if i was in the same situation, i think i would've went for it myself
also, any of you read all those extra replies and such? it talks about how crappy carfax is. i guess it's always good to bring a car to a mechanic to get it checked and had everything ran. afterall i do live in florida

Rep Power: 307 Well, no one deserves to be taken. But it does happen all the time. CARFAX is a great resource, something that would have easily salved this dude 10 grand.
I would never have a problem letting someone run a car fax on my car, but then again I am honest. But I would never have done business without a bill of sale, never used cash, only a cashier's check, and all the signs he saw should have beat him over the head.
I guess the best thing is for everyone to learn from this. Perhaps paying 3 grand more at the dealer would have paid off.

I think you should all call him and tell him the same **** I did, the info about the Red M3 for 10,500 on Auto trader. I even red him back his address and all that info. Everyone do it, its 508pm here in texas, lets all pester him and stuff.
